I live in the SF Bay Area. If anything Kamala Harris identification is with the African-American community. If she becomes VP yeah she'll probably play with her Indian side but being Vice President is usually ceremonial duties. And remember Republicans are ready to pounce to blame Democrats for any failure with China even if started with them. Trump can only claim he took on China. That's means his policies regarding China did not work or he would be claiming victories and not bragging that he's the first to take on China like no President before... and it failed.

Reuters:
So far the Chinese import from US has not reached the target agreed in the first phase agreement, does China prepare to increase import so to realize the target? (There was report that the import is so low that it is almost impossible to reach the target even if China begin to increase now).

MoC speaker:
blah blah blah, wish US stop restriction and discrimination against Chinese companies, to make it possible for realizing the phase one agreement.

Trump: "If I don’t win the election, China will own the United States. You’re going to have to learn to speak Chinese, if you want to know the truth. And you’ll have to learn it fast. They will own the United States."
LOL

Trump's getting desperate. Playing the China card to re-energize his electorate base. His playing this card to scare his base to stay firm.

God knows what he will do if things looking to get worse for him at home and abroad. I won't be surprised if he try something military against China just before election in November.

China is too risky a military target.

If Trump wants a short victorious war, then Syria or Iran are way easier.

The first time I see western media call a western "thing" a copycat of a Chinese app -- TikTok.
While US TikTok users may worry about this worst case scenario, those in India are already living it. India's 200 million TikTok users — twice as many as the app has in the United States — have spent nearly two months in a largely fruitless search for alternatives. Except nobody cares about Syria or Iran in the US, nor are they considered serious threats ordinary Americans might worry about.

Besides, Trump has already got the Jewish conservative vote locked thanks for his stance on Israel, so there isn’t much electrical boost he can expect from attacking Iran.

Squaring up to China is less about winning and more about invoking a major threat and telling Americans Trump is the only man who can protect them from this terrible yellow peril.

In that respects, even a military loss for the US might not be a total disaster for Trump, as he can blame Obama for him having inherited a bonked military and say only he can rebuild American military dominance.

But the most likely military scenario would be that Trump have the USAF and/or USN fire a handful of cruise missiles at max range at China’s SCS islands and run for home immediately, that causes minimal damage (so look to his Syrian strikes as a benchmark). At the same time he pulls all US assets out of the Eastern Pacific to deny China any easily accessible and proportionate retaliatory targets.

China will make the expected diplomatic noises but issue an ultimate to SK, Japan, maybe even Australia since they are near the top of China’s shit list right now - close down all US military bases on your soil within a set amount of time and evict all US military, or China will retaliate by striking at those bases on their soil.

If they kick the Americans out, great. If not, I think China will ostensibly strike at American bases on their soil, but in doing so will probably deal a heavy blow to their local military as well since when the PLA launch their ‘retaliatory counter strike’, they are going to kill anything military in the way irrespective of whether they look like they might try to interfere.

In doing so, China will not only have driven America out of the western Pacific, but also dealt its regional security assurances a deathblow. As who would take American assurances seriously if they poked the hornets nest and skipped town to let their local allies take the heat for that?

The American China hawks are probably feeling that their chance of winning war with China is diminishing by the day , so if they do not stop China now, in just short few years China may reach parity with them or may even exceed them in many fronts then they will have no chance of winning, they might want to do it now while they still can.
