U.S., U.K. fail to push for UN meeting over Hong Kong issue

The U.S. and the U.K. attempted to push for a video UN Security Council meeting to discuss China's decision to draft national security laws for Hong Kong. Their proposal failed to pass, as the majority of members believed Hong Kong affairs were not global issues and should not be raised by the Security Council.

There is no way this narrative will not backfire.

It would be essentially dismissing racism and police violence against blacks. It would not cause unity but more protesting as the protesters will feel as if the government is not taking them seriously.

It looks like a war zone. Didn't see any of this on MSM?

This thing can go on longer and morph into something else sooner or later. There are 40 millions extra unemployed people and still counting.
With such close proximity and contacts, coronavirus will flare up, making things even worse.
Even with a most competent Administration, this would be a really tough challenge to deal with, let alone the current one.
