I think the global time report of China's "sharp increase of grain export in April" is a bit sensational than substantial. The figure is 97.4% from March at 312,000 tons. The only thing that would catch attention is 97.4% jump. Remember one ton to 1.974 tone is 97.4% jump.

The question everyone should ask is what was the export of the whole 2021, 2020 etc.? Is the export evenly distributed over the year? Certainly not, they follow the harvest. In Jan and Feb you having nothing to export, in Mars you have some, in April you have a lot, in June you have nothing because that is the time you finished all the production from the land and begin to plant the next harvest. Note, this is only the example of wheat in the north, in the south rice goes another pattern and could have even 3 harvests per year in the extreme south. So just get the idea of it.

We should also ask what was the import in the recent past? It is well known that China significantly increased import in 2021. The country only have limited granaries to hold the food reserves. More than that grains will be rotting in the open if not exported or consumed.

This over excitement resembles the noise of US successfully forced China to comply the sanction of Iran because China's import of Iranian crude dropped for two months. It was proven to be nothing only short time later when China bought a new batch again. What I am trying to say is that not only the western media is jumpy, so are some Chinese "journalists" who only want to attract click which is linked to their payment.
Even more interesting to think.

China expanded importing Russia wheat just a month ago. China's yearly consumption does not change because of the war. How do you think China would do with the extra grain regardless being produced in Russia or China? ;) Yes, sell them to a third country.

Is't an coincident? :D Just too close in time. If true, China is just doing a middle man work. I am not saying China passing through Russian grain and Euro/Dollar payment as a broker, but saying that China consumes Russian grain and export Chinese grain. There is absolutely nothing that the US can do about it.

Further, if this works smoothly, Oil and Gas can be the next. Suddenly China becomes oil exporter to EU?

India has always exported wheat while their people starve. China and India roughly have the same population and China produces more wheat yet imports while India exports. It's extreme capitalism.

The situation in Sri Lanka is what has the Indian elites worried. If it spreads to India people may not put up with it any more.

China got here today by getting everyone else dependent on its production. China should export wheat the India and use that as a strong bargaining piece in future conflicts.
The inhumane side of me wants India to beg or come to China for assistance and not China first offering such assistance and I want it publicized to dampen the crazy hyper Jai Hind nonsense coming from that country. Otherwise, they are going to pretend that China didn't do jack shit for them if they do end up needing to import food from China. Am sure all of us remember how these ungrateful SOB's tried to pretend China didn't assist them in their time of crisis at the height of their covid-19 mayhem.

If you give them wheat, they won't go out of the way to produce it themselves, and in the long run this leaves India dependent on China for wheat. It's the same concept as America shipping its manufacturing base to China. Jai Hinds gonna Jai Hind no matter what tbh, best not to care about them, their country isn't going anywhere but backwards.

Those Jay Hind Indian SOBs are completely two-faced scum. They need to learn the hard way to be grateful to China. Unfortunately China will have its hands tied and probably feel a need to help out India in order to manage border tensions.
