, written by a columnist who used the pen name “Yuyuan Tantian,” was published by CCTV. The Weibo account of “Yuyuan Tantian,” set up in March 2019, has released many exclusive news items and pictures related to previous US-China closed-door meetings. According to the self-description, “Yuyuan Tantian” is a woman, an “experienced political and economic news reporter” who has a PhD in Economics. CCTV has recently admitted that the account belongs to them.

“Yuyuan Tantian” said China would remain undecided about whether the United States really wanted to cooperate or had some other thoughts. She said Biden had in early this year showed his sincerity to China but it was not matched with his actions.

Citing the comments of Wu Xinbo, a professor and director at the Center for American Studies of Fudan University, the columnist said the US had made a major strategic misjudgment against China as it regarded China as its main strategic competitor and felt that China was trying to weaken the leadership position of the US and dominate the international order. She accused the US of having imposed new sanctions against China over Hong Kong issues shortly before the Alaska meeting on March 18.

She said that during a meeting with US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman in Tianjin on July 26, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi proposed “three bottom lines and two lists” about China-US relations, urging the US to follow in order to prevent the bilateral ties from further deteriorating.

According to the

, the US must not challenge, slander or even attempt to subvert the path and system of “socialism with Chinese characteristics.” It must not attempt to obstruct or interrupt China’s development process or infringe upon the country’s state sovereignty or territorial integrity. That demand refers to issues surrounding Xinjiang, Tibet, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

refer to China’s urging that the US end all its sanctions against Chinese officials and their families, remove visa bans affectimng Chinese students and stop the anti-China sentiment in the US.

Wu said that since the US faced setbacks in Afghanistan, was recording high numbers of covid-19 infections and had been hit by tropical storm Ida, Biden’s popularity had declined to the lowest level this year. Wu said China was now on the higher ground while the US had changed its tone “from arrogance to humility” and had become more pragmatic.

He added that China would continue its effort on climate change matters but only for fulfilling the Paris Agreement, not the orders from the US.

“Yuyuan Tantian” said if the US treated

as an “oasis” of the China-US relations but treated all other topics as “deserts,” such an oasis would become desertified one day. She said US-China cooperation on climate change could not be singled out from all other matters related to the relations of the two countries.

She said Biden’s request for a call with Xi had released a sign that the US wanted to take the initiative to communicate and cooperate with China. Besides, she said it was worth noting that Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen was reportedly considering visiting China within months.

She concluded that China had already given an answer to “the question of the century” and would wait to see how the US would answer. She said if the US really wanted to cooperate, it had to “throw off its airs” and open a dialogue with China.

You lot talk as if us Anglos don’t want fairness or justice in the world, you think we are really monsters constantly scheming how to keep you down.

You really think we, who are just normal citizens, don’t want common prosperity and universal security? I would LOVE it.

You think it’s the people of the west’s fault, you act as if it’s us directly responsible and you treat everyone s a co-conspirators. You want the west to get fucked and me and my family to be punished? To feel the pain on your ancestors?

Is that what you want?
Take is easy buddy. We never want to see the west collapse or common folks lose out, but it's not fair for you to characterize us this way when it's the west eg. Minami the US who has been waging a behind the scenes war on china. They may talk about fairness and equality but in reality their actions are mostly to keep their dominance and power. So how can we not defend China in the face of this attack. It's only natural. You can also ask the US government if they want to see china get fucked and Chinese families punished.

I can guarantee you that the answer would be "YES!"

You said in your post in the UK miĺitary thread that you're a sinophiles. Then learn a bit more about Chinese people and it's cultural.

For a starter, you should know all the current animosity between the West and China is NOT China's doing. Upto around 15 years ago, the West was happily to be on friendly terms with China. Heck even up to around 5 years ago. Great Britain, in the form of Cameron and Osborne was hailing a new golden period between China and Great Britain. No Chinese here or indeed, anywhere were against "common prosperity". Whats changed? Ask youself. Be honest.

Did China all of sudden said:

Please sanction Huawei

Please arrest our Meng

Please take out all the 5g equipment because it's a security risk? (Well it's funny no one ever thought it's a security risk when they installed it)

Please send warships to SCS.

Please send your biggest armada with your newest and baddest carrier ever since the Falklands to SCS with stated announcement to the world of your intent.

Please use your agents and CIA/NED to use young people to caused mayhem for over two years, with blatenly bias reporting on how Hong Kong police was "brutal in their suppression of peaceful demonstrators". Yet all through this trouble time, not a single person is killed by the police (unlike the peaceful demonstration in the U.S. where national guards were used to suppress the peaceful demonstrators).

Please make up all the fake stories about Xinjing using CIA agents.

So who's fault is it, if it's not the West?

Need I go on?

Well for starters, we want you to stop making up lies about China.

Then we want you to stop sailing your warships and flying your warplanes off the coast of China.

Then we want you to get rid of all those military bases you have surrounding China.

Then and only then, we can start talking about fairness and justice.

Hypocrite talk fairness. And to think I was called hypocrite by him. Lol

You as an individual might want fairness and peaceful prosperity but your elite rulers have little interest in that. It is your democratic responsibility to hold your rulers accountable.

To be fair, he said he's a Scot. So I take it he's a Brit. If tgats the case theres not much we can do. As Great Britain is fxxked. It's really the 52nd state of America behind Canada as the 51st state.

You have not provided a single shred of evidence to support your failed thesis. You're a typical liberal who seems to suggest or replace actual strategy with rhetorical strategy which only ever works and perhaps by design to soothe the growing fragility of your country's society and by extension the bruised ego's of many western people who after all have began to actually question the predominant establishment views that are affecting their socio-politico-economics. The question of identity, nationality, cultural heritage and values that have not been replaced by globalism a.k.a. universalism of values as advocated by the likes of Fukiyama is being rejected and the suprationalism that has infected almost all western liberal democracies are being challenged by the predictable backlash and rise of suprationalism.

Lithuania is looking to eek out what it can out of their decades of relationships with NATO a.k.a. the U.S. led institution since Lithuanians have entrenched themselves firmly and surely as the most anti-Russia amongst all the former Warsaw pact members. The growing closeness of China-Russia partnership isn't lost on the Lithuanians and it's recent geopolitical actions against China should not and must not be viewed without involving the Russia equation.
I don't know why any well-informed thinking mind HERE will attach too much weight to the action of such small Baltic state (2.8 million population), a NATO member with its rabid anti-Russia stance, and a poster country of George Soros, and like Australia and Canada, is another fawning acolyte of Washington's interests. If Australia with way bigger economic relationship with China is willing to sacrifice its economic interests by articulating such a rabid anti-China policies and actions, then what to question on Lithuania, a country having much less economic link with China! I just don't see such importance with any action taken by such small state! Some noises, yes! Impact? Almost nonexistent! Thing is pretty simple, in today's world, if Vilnius becomes not friendly, then Beijing just returns the favor!

Indeed Madeleine Albright, the US Secretary of State, already told the world that a price of half a million Iraqi children has been a price worth paying for the accomplishment of the embargo on Iraqi oil (Oil-for-Food Program). And I do believe these people for their genuine intentions and methods if situation allows! Just call it the Exceptional Country! Or the Supremacy Privilege! They believe themselves are the Messenger of God to disseminate the freedom, (liberal) democracy and human rights to the entire planet, regardless whether the targeted nations are willing to accept their gifts or not. At least that's what they claim, up to each to buy into it or not.

I think you misread me by miles... I wrote that in relation to Japan - Diaoyu Islands!

Btw I am a typical Chinese that I don't bother much other people's affairs as long as they don't bother my own business. Principally holding "MYOB"

And in the case of China, her core interests are Taiwan Island, the South China Sea, territorial integrity, no foreign intervention into her domestic affairs (HKSAR, Xinjiang, Tibet), and maintain rights to progress and prosper! Pretty straight and simple!

You can read China's latest resolute stance on Taiwan question on my subsequent post here.

OPINION / EDITORIAL

PLA jets will eventually patrol over Taiwan: Global Times editorial

By GLOBAL TIMES, 13 September 2021

The Taiwan question has been kept brewing. More than half of China's diplomatic troubles are related to it. In the long run, the cost of maintaining the current peace in the Taiwan Straits will only increase for the Chinese mainland. The US and Japan have countless levers to collude with the island of Taiwan, which will constantly consume the Chinese mainland's diplomatic resources and energy.

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authority is determined to latch onto the US and Japan to gang up against the Chinese mainland, and has increasingly kidnapped public opinion on the island, while the US is making more and more frequently strategic manipulations over the Taiwan question. Given these facts the Chinese mainland has to take fundamental measures, engaging in a resolute struggle so that to stop the situation across the Taiwan Straits from deteriorating, deter the DPP authority and its supporters, and firmly seize the strategic initiative of the regional situation.

Sending PLA fighter jets over the island of Taiwan is a step we must take. The move will pose a fundamental warning to the Taiwan authorities and bring about reconstruction of the situation across the Taiwan Straits. It will be a clear declaration of China's sovereignty over Taiwan island, and create unprecedented conditions for us to further implement this sovereignty.

The "airspace" over the Taiwan island belongs to the airspace of China. The so-called middle line of the Taiwan Straits has never been recognized by the Chinese mainland. Therefore, there is sufficient legal basis for the PLA fighter jets to fly over the island. Previously, PLA fighter jets did not fly over Taiwan. That was out of consideration for taking care of the emotions and feelings of Taiwan residents and out of the goodwill to maintain stability across the Straits. Now that the DPP authority has gone completely hostile toward the mainland and is willing to play a role as a pawn of the US in strategically containing the Chinese mainland, it is time for us to take back the favor we granted to the island in the past and prepare to exercise the sovereignty of sending fighter jets to patrol the Taiwan island.

Will the military on the Taiwan island dare to prevent PLA fighters from flying over the island and fire? Our answer is that: As long as the mainland's determination to conduct such a patrol is unwavering, if Taiwan fires, it would mean that the Chinese mainland will launch a destructive retaliation. Even a war to liberate the Taiwan island will start. In this context, the Taiwan military will never dare to fire at a PLA aircraft on such a mission.

The mainland fighter jets' flight over the Taiwan island must be backed by large-scale and overwhelming military preparedness. Fighters flying over the Taiwan Straits is only a part of the Chinese mainland's determination to reset the situation across the Straits. This will be a showdown that gives the DPP authority two choices: either accept the patrol and refrain from the extreme anti-mainland line of colluding with the US and Japan, or start a war by firing at military aircraft of the Chinese mainland and face the consequence of being destroyed and eliminated by the PLA.

It is a very important event for the fighter jets of the Chinese mainland to fly over the island. The US and its allies will make a fuss in the international community to further discredit the Chinese mainland and attack us for "unilaterally altering the status quo across the Taiwan Straits." We should show our contempt for such irresponsible claims. Tsai Ing-wen and the DPP authority have abandoned the 1992 Consensus and already changed the political status across the Taiwan Straits since they took office. The flyover of a mainland military plane is a reckoning of their salami-slicing tactics and a fundamental correction of their efforts to change the status quo across the Taiwan Straits.

There will be a long sequence of escalations in the cross-Straits game between the Chinese mainland and the US and the island of Taiwan, but the flyover of a mainland fighter jet will be the most critical step. The PLA has already been thoroughly preparing for the military struggle with the island of Taiwan. The mainland's fighter aircraft have frequently flown in the airspace near the island, crossing the so-called middle line of the Taiwan Straits many times. In fact, the Taiwan authorities have become more and more psychologically prepared for a flyover from the PLA.

Of course, that move will break the situation in the Straits, so it needs to be carried out at the most appropriate time. The mainland should make constant statements that its fighters are ready to fly over the island. This way, when Taiwan authorities seriously provoke the mainland, it will be in their expectation that fighter jets will definitely come from the other side of the Straits. It will be the safest when PLA fighter jets fly over Taiwan amid media reports about the mainland's wrath.

Let us be fully prepared that there will be a showdown in the Taiwan Straits. Let us crush the will of the DPP authority with our strong will to defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as our real ability. Let us send our first PLA fighter jet over the island of Taiwan at the most accurate time. That will be a milestone on China's path to reunification.

You lot talk as if us Anglos don’t want fairness or justice in the world
You (I mean the "Anglos") dont want either of them. Where is "fairness" and "justice" on the western warcrimes on Afghanistan, Iraq, and a couple dozens more of coups in around the world? The current victims of West's interventions is already at 7-digits, easily 8-digits if we account for indirect effects

you think we are really monsters
Not you (I assume you are a commoner like the rest of us). Your Elites though, they definetely are. There is a long trail of graves from the warcrimes they caused (+ are causing right now)

constantly scheming how to keep you down.
The West (specifically the US) is definetely scheming to keep China down. Unlike other members here I am not that super outraged as I see this more from a historical perspective

Whenever a Hegemon feels challenged from a rising power, conflict will inevitably follow. Nowadays the conflict is more in the economic/technologic/diplomatic domains. This is normal in geopolitics. As such, the US, after building its whole economy based on being the Hegemon, must defend its dominant position, otherwise its citizens' unsustainable economic lifestyle will crumble into dust

You really think we, who are just normal citizens, don’t want common prosperity and universal security? I would LOVE it
(I assume) We are commoners here. The issue members in this forum have is mostly against your Elites. As I have said multiple times in the past, Americans/Westerners greatest enemy is neither China or Russia or Iran or North Korea etc. Your greatest enemy has always been your own Elites/oligarchs/mega corps/"Deep State" (yes it exists) and Military Contractors-Industry

All these issues you have, unfortunately for you, stem from your own political system which is in dire need of radical reforms. Again unfortunately, your Elites arent interested in reforming it unless it is for more thoroughly milking the commoners...

You think it’s the people of the west’s fault,
Its mostly your Elites wrong. Unless you are an Elite yourself I dont know why you take offence.

you act as if it’s us directly responsible and you treat everyone s a co-conspirators
You are not responsible. The only thing you are responsible is for voting your politicians. However, seeing that your political system is captured by the oligarchs and you are given the same candidates (+policies) in every election plus daily propaganda, I dont blame you or any other commoners at all.

You want the west to get fucked
People here want the West to understand their centuries old privilege which made them rich by invading, killing and pillaging the poor countries. And also to drop the "holier than thou" attitude which especially makes people angry. No double standards.

Just come out and say(your Elites), yes, we here in the US became rich because we genocided Native Americans, stole their land, and we are now totally protectors of freedom. Plus we couped a dozen other countries, killed a couple of million people in various wars etc

and me and my family to be punished?
Your family is ok. Why would anyone want your family to be punished? Bizarre. If you saw anyone saying this, please report his post. If not, then thats you projecting

The people here are talking about a fairer distribution of resources between countries.
Now how your country will deal internally with this, thats your own matter. Seeing the past record of your government though...a grim future is ahead for the US commoners (I assume you are American)

To feel the pain on your ancestors?

Is that what you want?
What are you rumbling about? China especially, has been very forgiving of its past foreign invaders. Do you see China asking war-reparations from Western Invaders? If it did then that would easily go maybe 3-digits trillion of dollars.

Instead what China is asking is, basic respect for its political system, peaceful development (impossible when clashing with a Hegemon but whatever), and territorial sovereignty. The West is walking all over these China's basic demands, so dont expect China to show any signs of cooperation wrt the US (There is room for the EU though).

Climate cooperation is already going straight to the garbage bin. And others will soon follow. The West had gotten too comfortable living under the shadow of the US, however now they will soon learn what it means to have made China an enemy. I will just say that in the past, China was very receptive to working with the West, even with Russia trying to persuade it to become anti-West.

However, among other issues, CIA's thorough infiltration of the CPC, enraged Xi and the CPC forcing them to see US with alarm and suspicion. Your Obama's backstab to China after China bailing out the US, was another issue. Then Trump vitriol against China was another. Then Trade War. Then Covid mass hysteria against China. Then hopes of Biden making up with China were dashed again. Then the disastrous Anchorage meeting. And now the Taiwan name change proposal.

You notice a pattern? China has been continuously abused/tricked and mocked by the US. Xi finally had enough, and figuratively locked all the pro-West/US Chinese Elites in the closet, then picked up the key and launched it into upper space. I think that this metaphor should be enough to explain the current sentiment of China against the US

Puff.. Another long post to be bookmarked. Wasted way too much time on this

So your response to me was a misread of my lines intended for Japan & Diaoyu Islands.

Then another thing, I wish you to be aware of the US intention to curtail China was already floated almost 20 years ago, so this is not just Trump or Covid factors! They have been hatching the idea to contain China's progress many years earlier!

Read this piece by EHUD OLMERT, the former prime minister of Israel, if you have not.

"Years ago, during the 2001-2005, at a small conference I attended with opinion leaders, statesmen and heads of large American and foreign economic corporations, I heard a discussion on US-China relations. The speakers, including the most senior senators, officials in the Bush Jr. administration, and the most senior American journalists, spoke about the need to curtail China, using terminology that was reminiscent of the PANIC former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu used to talk about when dealing with the Iran issue."
