Man, if (or when...) the next president in 2024, comes from the Republicans then that would be the end of the "democracy" they think they have

Maybe it’ll be a transition from Republic to Empire in the same way Rome did. That might actually solve a lot of the problems.

Its the Argentinian term for it. Just using that is enough to piss the UK off.

Looks like the Argentinians will be getting JF-17s after all...
The Envoy said "Britain and other administering powers should earnestly fulfill their international obligations in accordance with relevant UN resolutions and protect the legitimate rights of the people of the non-self-governing territories,"

I don't think the Malvinas were populated when the UK claimed them.

The Roman Empire at least had Caesar Augustus who propelled them to a new Era. Some will also say that the transition away from the Republic was the start of the end for the Romans, but thats another debate altogether.

Do you believe that the likes of Mike Pompeo, Tom Cotton, Trump, John Bolton etc are the people who can do anything worthwhile about their country? (X) Doubt

I believe a strong leader will fill the vacuum when the time is right.

The transition from Republic to Empire actually started after the WW2, accelerated during the Cold War, and had reached its pinnacle after the Cold War but before the Great Financial Crisis.

Actually, they were practicing Imperialism in this hemisphere loooong before that.

They claimed this hemisphere with the Monroe Doctrine in 1823 and have invaded and imposed Imperial prerogatives on Central American and Caribbean countries numerous times. I’m sure you know about United Fruit! I think it was the “Spanish American War” in which the US superseded Spain as a European Empire. It was only after WWs I and II that is superseded England (tho’, in my analysis, in those wars, the US was actually used as an instrument of the British Empire, and still is to the present).
