Who do you think was the best naval Admiral of World War II? Submit your names.

Moderator Note:

This thread will be about the best naval Admiral of World War II. We will develop a list of ten Admirals, and they can be from any of the involved nations, and then add a poll to the thread once that is done. Ground force Generals and air force Generals will have their own thread.

Dang...well the SD poll is limited to ten. Each thread will have to limit itself accordingly.

Colonel
I think we need to expand the list to not only WWII. A few of these admirals are famous due to the battles they were in and not necessarily because of any great 'leadership' or 'tactics' they employed. Heck someone of them made fateful decisions that lost battles.

As far as great admirals go other than a few from WWII.. certainly folks like Horatio Nelson needs to be mentioned. He is a brilliant naval tactician and all around good admiral

Another one that comes to mind is David Faragut because of the role he played in the Civil War.

Arleigh Burke because he is just a badass.

These are all truly great admirals and should be on any list of naval leaders

Thanks Kwaig.

But the list here is specific to World War II, as are the WW II Ground General and WW II Air force General poll.

We can only put ten down on an SD poll at at time.

Perhaps we will come up with another set of polls for best all-time Admirals and Generals later.
