This thread is predominantly for new, inexperienced posters on SD. There will be one in each forum and the questions should relate to the overall topic of the forum in which it is located..

It is for true nubie or greenie questions that we do not want to clutter up our main threads with.

It is also for "off the wall," questions or suggestions, even from more experienced users on SD.

Our forum is very broad ranging and everyone cannot be experts on everything...so in one of the forums, if you have a legitimate question you have been afraid or embarrassed to ask...this is where you can do it.

As moderators see questions that may fit into these categories on other threads...they may well move them here to try and keep our more serious threads as professional as possible.

Be patient. Longer time members will watch these threads as will moderators...but it may take us a whole to get to some of these questions.

So...with that...carryon!

Does anyone know if China has a missile of similar role to the american Maverick missile?

The Chinese C-701 aka YJ-7 is roughly equivalent to the Maverick, though its warhead is quite a bit smaller.

For another comparison, they have the HJ-8 which is similar to a TOW missile.

What is the advantage of having a wing shape like the JH-7 (Having spikes?) to the one I photoshoped on the right side?

Such sawtooth spikes cause a vortex to be formed on the suction side of the wing especially at a high angle of attack thus increasing the maximum lift coefficient the aircraft can achieve and reducing the allowable speed at landing at the same weight.

good question and a very fine response master delft!

I would only add that the low pressure vortex on top of the wing is strategically positioned to energize airflow over the top surface of the ailerons increasing their effectiveness and hopefully causing the energized airflow to remain attached across the top of the aileron maintaining roll control through the low speed regime and even post stall.

Just another maybe stupid or funny idea ...

There are since some longer time rumours about a possible twin-jet-engined medium-sized transport sometimes called Y-19:

Y-19 model 1.jpg Y-19 model 2.jpg

Yesterday now, the new Antonov An-178 had its roll out and especially in mind of the already good cooperations between Shaanxi and / or Xi'an with Antonov and even more in mind of the current political Situation in Ukrainia ... could this bird - especially since already nearly finished - be an interesting option as a Y-9 complement, replacement ... esp. for the special mission birds !
