Hello all,

Everyone here probably knows about the China Threat theories by Bill Goertz and others. I was wondering if anyone can direct me to something published in a journal, article, book or webpage that attempts to refute the China Threat theory.

Thank you very much.

What? They believe the Viet Minh were inspired by China? Hahaha. They were inspired by their hate for France, their colonial masters. Of course they were nationalist, they were fighting for independence.

How did East Timor have anything to do with China? The East Timorese did have Chinese there, but they recognised themselves as Chinese Timorese. Infact, my dad dislikes current China or rather, he disliked thatt Mao took presidency. He said he was a good war leader, but no good at politics.

Also looking at this article or whatever, it does seem quite anti-West and allies of the West. If the US saw China as a threat, why do China and the US trade a lot between each other? China and Japan trade plenty as well. I dunno, it just seems to be exaggerated and too vague.

Maybe this anti-China lobby is very small in the nations involved, as most Australian politicians at the moment seem to want to trade with China and care more about our own economy. Obviously the US doesn't see them as much as a threat as stated because they are helping the Chinese build their economy. They are basically taking money out of the US economy and putting it into the Chinese economy.

Japan and China have always had tense relations since the outbreak of conflicts pre-WW2. Japan is still on a US leash to me.

And didn't the US align themselves with China against the Soviet threat? China didn't trust the USSR after the Vietnam War I think it was, and they opened up diplomacy with the world.

Not too sure but it just seems extremely biased and the connotation used seemed to be more for propaganda than informative.
