Aerodynamic research ... SAC - CAC !

Just another question related to Aerodynamic research esp. for the current 5. generation projects in China ...

In the old SU aeronautical research was done not only esp. by the design bureaus or manufactures but also from the TsAGI … a state-owned research facility. New break-thru results were then often diverted to the individual designers, to work with. In that way the Su-27 and MiG-29 earned a very similar configuration.

Does anyone know if that is or at least was in China too ??? … I ask because from CAC we know some more or less well-known projects following the J-7 … J-9 in its different configurations finally to the J-10 + the FC-1, several of them flew successfully (besides the J-9). From SAC we also know some projects the J-11 and J-13, but besides the Flanker manufactured under license the only active/succesful type is the J-8 also based on the venerable J-7-technology.

Are there or have there been any “secret SAC projects”, we don’t know … and was there some common research for all Chinese design institutes and sadly we only knew the results from CAC. Or is / was in China every institute working, developing for itself ?? So, will the J-13 share some features of other contemporary fighters from CAC ?
So this second J-13 would be the first “new” indigenous SAC project after the J-8 !!… ???

It depends on what form the new J-13 takes, as of now, it seems to be a new design (the trapezoidal wing one), but we honestly know very little of whats going on and perhaps the Flanker variant we've seen pictures of will be the design that is victorious? So it could be Shenyang's new indigenous design in a while, or another Flanker variant.

Thanks ... but any idea to that middle part-question ?

For aerodynamic research, there is the

Thanks a lot ... but will the results be shared to/with all manufactures ?

The reason behind that is ... if there's a share in certain developments, we can (maybe) expect some of the design elements found in the latest J-10 and FC-1 models also in the next SAC-model. Otherwise asked: Does each manufactor/design institute makes its own research ?

I'm 100% it's shared. Although, what kind of stuff they hide from each other, that I do not know. From what I hear, part of the problem with SAC compared to CAC is that the production plants for them is so much weaker than that of CAC.

Thanks ... that exactly the answer I hoped to get ! ;)

My idea behind the question was... is the a chance that the new fighter from SAC will or at lesta could also feature an DSI intake ? (or is this only CAC's design) ... and can certain manufacturing techniques, and design elements then be found in that new type, or is that like Boeing vs. Airbus ?
