A Chinese MOAB?

Even so, I don't think China is planning to build a MOAB at this point. Besides, the "daisy cutter" is not the most practical or even the most ethical of weapons. Why waste a 24,000lb bomb on a single target when you can hit multiple targets by carpet bombing with multiple lighter bombs? And why do you need to destroy thousands of acres of land with a huge bomb that costs millions of dollars to clear mines when you can do that much easily and at a much cheaper price by using normal minesweeping methods on the ground?

The simple answer is: because its faster.

A daisy cutter exploaded in a lush tropical jungle will create an instant landing zone.

Same thing for land clearance.

That still wouldn't make the guys that dropped it very popular with the local civillians though. Why do you think so many Vietnamese peasents joined the Viet Cong?

See the thing is, you don't drop this on a populated area. USAF normally dropped it in a lush jungle in Vietnam, an Iraqi minefield, and the caves in Afghanistan. Not exactly heavily populated centers.

Well anyway, I haven't heard anyhthing about the Chinese aqquiring any MOABs. They are very expensive weapons, So China may try to build a few when they have more money. Or they could buy them from oversees. Did Russia ever build any of those things?
