It intrigues me how similar it looks like inside of a normal building except with a lot of pipelines. Shouldn't they at least use metal doors? Those doors looks neither fireproof nor watertight.

Not all doors need to be watertight, the hatches between watertight compartments have lots of closing levers and weigh a ton, not necessary for doors within a compartment.

Those are metal doors.
They just have a brown coating.

If you ever get the chance to go inside a PLAN ship at a port visit, you can confirm this. When I visited, the doors was one of the first things I checked lol.

Steel doors with wood-like skin are now very commom in China. Plywood doors are no longer popular.
