Senator: So you want to make Godzilla our pet?
Sarizawa: No, we would be his.

Interesting but the thing is Next Generation was further in the future from when the Abramsverse begun that the future would be more different than anyone would recognize. They hint other Next Generation characters might show up. In reality if something like that were to happen, some of these characters might not even exist. I think that was the failure of the last Star Trek movie where they just made regular TV episode. The Abramsverse changed everything. It was an epic event. They should've had all the Abramsverse Star Trek movies explore those changes.

I finally saw Star Trek Discovery. I liked it. Better than Enterprise. I like the long-form story format better. I'm not sure I like the new Klingon look. They look more reptilian. Problem is they have this spore drive before the Abramsverse even begun so that means it should have existed throughout the rest of the other series. That's the conundrum with any prequel. They have to think up new interesting ideas to keep the audience interested but they affect history.

Most fans have issues with that look. They are going to try and tone it down a bit season 2.
Not even. The division between Kelvin timeline and Prime happened in 2233, Discovery takes place in the 2256 everything discovery is parallel to Kelvin timeline. With major events like the battle of the Binary not happening in Kelvin. The Enterprise in Kelvin timeline was launched in 2258.

I completely forgot about the USS Kelvin but I guess that's up for debate since what really changed into the Abramsverse was the destruction of Vulcan since Vulcan was an major part of Federation history.

Vulcan was a major event yes but the Enterprise herself was also changed. The original pilot of TOS the Cage in 2254. 4 years before the launch of the KT Enterprise.
The encounter of the Narada by the Kelvin meant that Starfleet would have know what Romulans looked like a full 60 Years before Ballance of terror would have happened. Basically the Butterfly effect.

Well that would mean anytime someone travels back in time technically would splinter the timeline but would always drastically affect the timeline? People die where they wouldn't have in another timeline but would it epically change all history. Who knows? Was Captain Kirk affected by his father's death by the Romulans that would change his future drastically? By the movies of the Abramsverse they seem basically the same characters as the original. Would JJ Abrams be capable of thinking that deep about the result of his narrative would have in the future's history? It's the destruction of Vulcan that changes the Federation drastically hence Jean-Luc Picard in this new series is supposedly a different person from what everyone knows. What would've happened if the Enterprise saved Vulcan from destruction? If the USS Kelvin wasn't destroyed, would it have stopped the Romulans from destroying Vulcan? The only thing changes the history of the Federation is the destruction of Vulcan.

A good deal of star trek time travel is predestined paradoxes there by correcting themselves.
drastically changed history. The KT Kirk is far more a risk taker.
Prime Kirk didn't need to rebel against a step father he didn't like and drive a classic sports car off a cliff. Prime Kirk took command of the USS Farragut after the crew had been killed he worked his way up the ladder . Prime Kirk was more by the book. Sure he was a ladies man but nothing on KT Kirk.
The whole event wouldn't have happened. The Narada Abrams was a time traveler. If she had not traveled back the destruction of Vulcan never would have happened. Because neither Nero or Prime Spock would have been there.
