Frankly anyone who doesn't want to read spoilers should be avoiding these threads entirely until they've watched the movie. You must be one of those kids that peek at your Christmas presents way before Christmas.

To be fair, Rogue One was - and still is - a fresh take as far as Star Wars is concern.
Prequels ain't fresh because the original trilogy is the biggest spoiler...
Original trilogy is classic.
The new trilogy will be a steep challenge to placate us old farts, because after 30+ years of sci-fi of every possible genre, what can shock-and-awe us now?

I went to see the Last Jedi last night and I have to say it was quite a disappointment to say the least. The story and plot seems to be scatter about through out the movie. JJ Abram just doesn't have it IMO. The entire movie feels like it was written to introduce new First Order mega weapons and putting Rebel forces old characters for nostalgic sake. Yeah Rogue One is better.

You are of course 100% right. The SW franchise rides strictly on nostalgia and the coattails of the originals. The extensive marketing and common household brand name over decades play no small part in it's continue success. Generational influence plays a significant role as well.
Truth is if you just watch the movies just on it's own merit w/o any of the external influence it is at best a very average scifi movie with mainly laughable plot!
That is the true magic of SW and the biggest con game Hollywood has ever pulled off.

Apparently JJ and Rian never had a discussion where they wanted to go with the new trilogy because initially Colin Trevorrow was supposed to direct IX. Disney and Kathleen Kennedy was supposed to provide overall guidance while the directors implement their vision but I guess that all got thrown out after Colin was booted and JJ got his movie back.
I bet the Star Forge and the Eclipse are going to be the next two mega weapons that are going to appear in IX since Disney made them Canon.

Perhaps the Star Forge will more likely to appear than the Eclipse. The Eclipse were based from during the Galactic Civil War I believe.
Star Forge would be nice since it would rationally explain how the FO was able to a mass so many ships in so little time and it would give Disney a bridge into movies/shows related to KOTOR.
Eclipse will appear because it was canonized in Aftermath: Empires End. Sloane and the Sr and Jr Hux discovered it in the Unknown Regions after the Battle of Jakku. There’s no way it’s been sitting around doing nothing.
Spoiler Warning here....
My theory for IX is Hux will somehow mutiny and take control of the FO from Kylo and command it. Take out most of the Resistance including Leia. And because Kylo and Rey both seem to have feelings for Leia they’ll somehow have to work together to take out Hux and end the FO. Then make Reylo babies and episode X, XI, XII will be based on Relyo Skywalkers.
Well, the "Honey Badger" and I are off to a Galaxy, far, far, away!
First I have to fuel the "Ignition Orange Speeder!", I hope we get through the sand people!
