I read that there was a record number of subscribers before and after the airing the pilot on CBS network TV. I haven't read anything about numbers so I have to wonder if it's just to get people subscribing to CBS All Access. "Record" numbers doesn't say much since CBS All Access didn't have a lot of subscribers in the first place. I read over a month ago that CBS was already worried over Star Trek Discovery's failure as a subscription show and if so there were plans after the first season to move it onto another platform they own like Showtime and maybe on their free TV network.

It seems that many networks are establishing their own streaming services. I'm not sure if it's going to work.

We already have Netflix and Amazon Prime. That's almost $200 a year combined.

I believe Disney will also have their own streaming service. And they will pull their movies and tv shows off Netflix. So if we want to watch anything Disney makes, like all the Star Wars movies and shows, we will have to subscribe Disney. That's at least another $70-100 a year. And CBS streaming? What's next? Fox, NBC, ABC, Syfy all have their own exclusive streaming? We will end up paying $1000 a year???

It would be much more convenient to have a few streaming sites where we can find most shows and movies. I don't even mind if Netflix charges me more for accessing more shows. Instead of the current $90/month, I am totally fine with even $130/month as long as I can find more shows.

It would've been a nightmare if we had to subscribe a dozen streaming services for a couple of favorite shows per service. Then one of the channels decides to cancel an awesome show, like what Fox did with Firefly. Then we'll have to cancel the whole subscription. I hate canceling stuff with all the calling and yelling and cursing and over-charging and late fees, etc etc etc. It would've been cheaper if I simply buy the season on Amazon, which is what I'm doing with GoT...

I read that Disney's subscription service is going to be a premium and they will charge at least $14.99 a month. We're talking traditional Disney, Marvel (including their Netflix shows), Pixar, and Lucasfilm will be only available on this service. The rumor is the live action Star Wars TV show will be the first new original programming on this service.

Nooooo... you mean shows like Netflix Daredevil? Curse them!!!

It's partly Netflix property! I don't see how Netflix would let them go.

Disney has totally gone to the dark side. I'm conflicted. On the one hand, I worship lord Vader. So Disney has come to my side... On the other hand, I hate that Disney is blackmailing me...

Big fan of DS9 and TNG, judging from the first two episodes of Star Trek Discovery, it could be a decent enough show . I think the first two episodes are more like a season final than an opening and I hate the new Klingon design, they remind me of orcs from LOTR.

Wow... What I'm hearing about Star Trek Discovery episode 3 is really getting me interested. It's everything JJ Abrams made dumb possibly into genius in this show. JJ Abrams just threw a bone to Star Trek fans. In Discovery, everything that's a nod to Star Trek canon could possibly be deeper in meaning possibly witnessing the origins of different plots seen throughout all the series. Of course it could all just end up being a JJ Abrams egg. But this time Star Trek might have fallen into the right hands.

JJ abrams has nothing to do with Discovery, it's a different production company. Different plot line and It ticks me off that people still insist that the new films are an affront and that this is JJ timeline just because it decided to go a different route.

Yes, I know Discovery is not in the Abramsverse and is in the "prime" universe and I emphasize the quotes because of the speculation where Discovery actually takes place according to clues given in Episode 3. The problem is in anything that goes back in time is that it's just a gimmick. That's what happened with JJ Abrams. I'm not going to say what's being speculated but that one of two plot devices, maybe both at the same time, that have played sporadically throughout all the series are what it's all about in this series.
