Star Wars & Sc-Fi Talk

About the Wonder Woman, the movie was about Batman and Superman. So it's expected that other characters would take a backseat no matter how interesting they might be. I am anxious to see the WW movie this year.

The only graphic novel I've ever read was Kingdom Come, so personally, I was hoping for more interaction between the WW-Superman-Batman trio. For example, I was half expecting WW to break up the BvS fight. Instead all I got was Lois Lane. :(

Yep. Fight stopping part was kinda weird. The two dudes seemed to hate each other's guts and wanted to kill each other. Then all of sudden, they stopped fighting just because their moms share the same name... I agree that a more convincing way to stop them would be for someone equally or more powerful to step in. WW would be the obvious choice.

That said, I thought the BvS fight was much more credible than the airport fight in Civil War. Snyder did a good job of portraying both Superman and Batman as stubborn and self-righteous. That fight had the hallmark of alpha-male ego written all over it.

Which would have made it all the more interesting if WW had stopped it.

The final fight with Doomsday was absolutely amazing. I guess I am biased since I have always been a DC guy. The only Marvel comics that I like is the X-men.

And DC has done a better job developing TV series, like Arrow, the Flash, Supergirl, etc

I do like Netflix's Daredevil though.

Both Batman vs Superman and Suicide Squad were better with their Blu-Ray extended versions. It gave more nuance on what was going on that people complained about in those movies. Now there's word Warner Bros hasn't learned a thing. They got Ben Affleck to direct and write the solo Batman movie but word now is Ben Affleck might not do a Batman solo movie because the script might not be good enough for him. Isn't he writing it? This only means the typical Warner Bros executive interference that has plagued their comic book movies is still going on.

Well, it depends on what perspective you look at. For those executives, the BvS was a huge success, earning them billions of $$$ not even counting the BD etc. So why change things when everything is going so well? They will continue to do things the same way until several of their tentpoles tank. That may / may not wake them up.

I loved the BvS when I watched it in theaters. just my own biased view though...

Well Warner Bros has gone through several changes in executives to address this issue. They know there's a problem because the movies may have made money in the end but did not meet expectations.

You see? "expectation" is the key word. What is the expectation? Making movies similar to Marvel's style? People have been so used to the Marvel style. BvS and Suicide Squad have been criticized for being bad or for being different?

I honestly didn't like Suicide Squad... It felt like a SyFy channel movie...

Simple... It's more money. Both movies were expected to make a lot more money than it ended up with. That in Hollywood causes heads to roll. It's no different from how companies looks at their quarterly earnings and even though they made money, it didn't meet expectations and then the stock value declines.

Suicide Squad was cheesy. But I do like the girl who played Harlyn Quin and the guy who played the young Joker though. He didn't top Heath Ledgers Joker character from the Dark Knight but it was doable for this time and age.
