The more I look at the new crossguard lightsaber, the more I feel that it is supposed to a primitive/ancient weapon. If you pay attention to how it is switched on and compare to how Luke's blue lightsaber is switched on, you will see that Luke's lighsaber is switched on smoothly with a "swoosh". On the other hand, the crossguard saber gives out many electric-like noises and actually flashes a lot when switched on. The blade is more flame-like, jumping up and down and fluctuate. I think they made it look so unstable to hint that this is a primitive weapon.

Like ancient as in an ancient evil sith clan passed down the lightsaber from generation to generation? Or it was mysteriously found?! Love the ideas vesicles

Could be either / both. All I was thinking was that this is a piece of old weapon not as advanced as Luke's.

Warcraft movie!
It looks awesome! I had doubts when I heard about the idea of a World of Warcraft movie. In fact, I'm still having a little doubt. However, this trailer looks awesome! It brings back good memories of my roommate and me playing the game against each other through the night in college... Good memories and stupid thing to do... Especially the night before the final exams... Bad thing to do... One of those "what-not-to-do-in-college" things

One of the other theories out there is that this lightsaber maybe made of the remains of Darth Vader's lightsaber. Since someone salvaged Vader's helmet it's possible that the remains of the lightsaber might have been recovered.
Though it is assumed that Vader's lightsaber was left behind on the second deathstar when it blew up. It's not impossible someone may have picked it up as they escaped the deathstar's destruction.
