Remember the old saying: If it is funny looking it is probably British, if it is weird looking it is probably French, but if it is funny looking and weird it is most likely Russian.
The Tu-22 trainer is weird, but i like it, in aesthetics i think the french and some times the american lead that pack in aircraft, the Russians to be honest are kind of coarse and simple, with the exception of a few aircraft like MiG-23, Tu-22M, Su-24, Su-34, MiG-29, Su-27 and Ka-50 i find their lines a bit crazy or unrefined.

The F-14, Rafale, F-16, P-51 and even F-15 i find them beauty queens.

But in Latin america sometimes we have good aesthetics. the E-190, IA-63 are cool looking

an aircraft i really like too specially the gray camouflage

I always felt that the Soviets/Russians should have produced the MiG-23 with fixed wings similar to the Orao J-22. The leading edge extension of the J-22 could have given the MiG-23/27 a runway run similar to the swing wing design, but at a fraction of the cost.

The additional wing area could have improved maneuverability and amount of underwing stores.

Just my thoughts as a amateur aircraft designer. Similar to the Chinese going from the J-7 to the JL-9
