Nicknamed shishiga (шишига) shehsherik (шешерик) trueman (in Siberia), the Gaz 66 was made at the Gorki Automobile plant which was set up as a co-operation between the Ford Motor Company and the Soviet Union in 1929.

At the end of WW2 the US car makers Ford and GM had supplied the Soviet union with trucks under a lend lease agreement and the US designs were taken and modified to produce purely Russian trucks like the Zil 157 and Gaz 33. From then on the USSR started to design their own vehicles based on the US principals but designed for the harsh environments found in their own continent. Toughness, off-road ability, simplicity, reliability and ease of maintenance were all major design factors.

The Gaz 66 had a production run from 1966 to 1999

My favorite of Soviet era aircraft are definitely

1# MiG-31 it's just awesome from every point of view, it is sexy it is the fastest combat plane ever build, it has the highest altitude and even Anti-Satellite weapons were designed and launched from it.

2# Su-27 and

, you can say everything but this are the smoothest and sexiest planes of the entire 4th generation fighters. I personally love the

two seat version it looks like a great white shark with the air intakes like fish gills and the Su-27 outperforms every fighter from its time and even today Su-27 families are just amazing

3# Su-25 which is except of US A-10 an uncommon role for today’s times but highly capable.
It is literally a flying tank.

4# MiG-23/27 I like this design and the way it look from the front with the landing gear.
