The North Koreans have been expanding their missile forces for decades. Did anyone really think eventually there wouldn't be some push back?
The Thaad system has an operational range of somewhere over 200 Km which in theory means it could affect the PRC but, that's a bit to simplistic. The Radar and missile launch would have been oriented into the DMZ, The US already has systems pointed at the PRC elsewhere, The only way its a threat to the PRC's Security interests if if they feel that the North Korean missile supremacy over South Korea is a interest.

haha come on, you're kidding, right? First of all, what's the true range of THAAD? Is it 200km? Then, is it in a conical shape or is it in a spherical shape? If it is indeed in a conical shape, who's there to guarantee that it always points away from China? Too many questions that can't be answered and in general, there should be a large amount of skepticism whenever a rival tells you that he'll put something near your house but it won't be used against you.

On the other hand, why is THAAD needed at all? Is there anyone who truly thinks that North Korea would launch a nuclear attack on South Korea knowing that the result is its own destruction? This is an action that only a madman would take. Are Americans so deluded that they actually think that Kim Jong Un is insane just because he chooses to defend himself instead of submitting to the will of the US? If America wants any country to denuclearize or to stop pursuing nukes, the only way is to lead by example. If it is unwilling to do so, why would anyone else be willing? Failure to see this logic carries in it far more lunacy than the Kim dynasty has ever exhibited.

Since THAAD would not be useful in preempting a North Korean first strike that can already be preempted with the already obvious guarantee of annhiliation by second strike against it, why is THAAD there? The only conclusion that China reaches is that is is there primarily to conduct operations or to be ready to conduct operations against China.

The Interception range is 200Km OF course every one points to the Radar wange which is 2000KM but in a conical shape. That does cover part of China yes and even a finger of Russia. Parts of Laioning, Jilin, and Heilongjiang. would be cover. by the Radar but not the intercept.

First At the moment the NK does not have a miniaturized nuke. but that doesn't matter Do you know how many people have been killed on the DMZ since the End of the Korean war? IT is not a peaceful place, The North has shelled, There have been firefights, A Helicopter shoot down. The North has Torpedoed South Korean ships.
You say there is no need I say looking at the history there is plenty of evidence that North Korea is capable of just about anything. and the Latest Kim is not a stable leadership. Stable leaders do not need to purge as often as he does. And Unstable leaders are happy to burn the house down around them if they think there leadership is under threat.
Ballistic missiles do not need nuclear warheads to do a lot of damage or inflict terror.
You rant about American Nuclear arms. I would love a world without them but guess what butter cup that is not happening.

Personally I think that the PRC is angry that the South Koreans did not go to them for a Antimissile system and that they did not get the call from the US and SK to reign in the North for what good it would do.

Oh, it's not happening? Well go tell that to the US administration, and call them buttercup. I'm not the one telling everyone to stop nuclear proliferation while I build myself.

Yeah, North Korea has done everything that you have stated. Which of those things is THAAD designed to counter? None. Is SK now better-equipped to stop artillery fire, ship sinking, helicopter downings because of THAAD? Don't think so.

I think China gets calls all the time to "rein" in North Korea but go on and lead by example. Let's see the US rein in Israel first.

As for missile defense system from China to SK, is this something you made up just to talk or was there an actual tender and China submitted a proposal? I'm aware of one in Turkey, but not one in SK and I think it would be quite odd and unexpected given SK's current situation with US troops all over it to purchase a Chinese missile system. Would China even want to sell it like that?
