German authority has clarified that these patriot missiles are legit. These are from from Germany's weapon stock, and are being sent to South Korea. The shipping company messed up in their transit paper. As to the ship's ports of call, they may stop at a South Korean port before the final port call at Shanghai.

Re: ASEAN military news

My Dutch paper today said the destination of the ship is Shanghai, but she is due to pass through a Korean port on the way. One bonus point to that newspaper.

Re: ASEAN military news

There's much speculations about this ship's destination/s. Like all merchant ships that carry a variety of cargo, it could be bound for Shanghai AFTER unloading the missiles at a South Korean port or hopefully not a North Korean one. As for the sender, it could be anyone include "rogue" arms dealer who is out to make a fast buck. It's unfair to point fingers at anyone based on newspaper reports or hearsay.

Oh, so this is a "precaution" measure the Korea at south to take, when the Korea at north have a power transition now?

This world need some serious moral checking these days.

Re: ASEAN military news

Tks paintgun, u are up-to-date with news in ASEAN. Good for the Indonesian Armed Forces especially their Navy, as they have to protect their Natuna Islands in the South China Sea from any intruders.

Re: ASEAN military news

It looks like a nightmare for the Indonesian armforce to keep watch on so many islands spread across a large area.

Re: ASEAN military news

It would'nt be a nightmare as there are ways and means besides the Indonesian Naval patrols. These could include sattelite tracking system, Indonesian aircraft patrols covering the Indonesian legally claimed territorial waters. Importantly if a major "threat" arises, there could also be joint cooperation (if invited by Indonesia) with other navies too. I will not be wrong to say that if called upon, the USN and the RAN would help against potential aggressors.
