So i searched around and found that there are 11 remaining US naval ships dating from the second world war:

USS Potomac-FDR's Boat(Jack London Square, Oakland)
USS Pamanito-Sub (San Francisco Pier 45)
USS Iowa-Battleship (Suisun Bay near Travis AFB)
USS Hoga-Pearl Harbor Tug (Suisun Bay)

found them via google, the USS North Carolina looks great. The USCGC Taney was at Peark Harbor and is now the only surviving boat from then.

Don't forget the battleship USS Alabama in Mobile Bay along with a sub, USS Drum, I believe.

Then there's the battleship USS Wisconsin, currently located in Norfolk.

Isn't Google Earth amazing? I found the Brazillian CV Minas Gerais docked in Rio de Janeiro whilst simltaneously approaching the beaches at Alang India to be scrapped. I bet if I looked hard enough I could see myself going to work and coming back at the same time...

Must remember to say hello to myself when it happens!
