Okay So As the Title says I literary Just Finished Jeff Head's Book series. First off that Was a lot of books. Second A lot of it had me at the Edge of my Seat thanks for the Read Jeff. now a confession... I did not by the book my self I got my local Lending Library too do it for me... Sorry Jeff.

Now My thoughts.
Early On I had A little Issue as there seemed too be a bit of a Jump on the HR7 and SR 77 It seemed the HR7 began as a Drone and then transformed into a Remora like Parasite craft and then flew on it's own. My best Guess Was your were trying too establish a relation ship between the two like that of the SR 71 and the

Next On The Chinese Front,
I am Surprised you did not Try and Have The PLAN Integrate Supercavitaion Tech into there submarines drives. Too Reduces There Sound signatures. Quiet PLAN subs an Equal too American Boats trolling The Oceans Would really have sent the USN into Trouble Early in the War.
That Said I am also Kind of Glad you didn't.

On the other end of that I did not make Since too me that the Seawolf boats were Quieter then the Virginia's As Virginia incorporates much of the Same Tech, A better reason The Seawolf's Would have fared better could have been there deeper operating Depths.

I was sad too a degree in Real Life when the RAH66 got Canned.
Too The End of year 4 I would have had the Marines buying Comanches, Or a Derivative design there in to replace and Augment there Vipers.
I also Would have Had Both the Army and Marines Working on a Replacement for the BlackHawk. I know It's Done a lot of Good work but Blackhawk as with most Helicopters in the World today date's back too the 1970's.

By the near end point I was Expecting mention Of F15's and F16's in US forces too be Depleted. The Numbers were Getting up there In terms of Losses. I was also Thinking you would have intoduces a number of Newer American Stealth drones acting as AEW and JSTAR craft. Little Known Fact is Before the US Bought The E8 Northrop's

the Hailstorm missile was a bit too much of a Game Changer For my taste But I could see where you were Going.
A combination Of small Arms upgrades like say XM29, Hail storm missiles, Some kind Of Electronic Warfare advancement, integration of A American Trophy system and perhaps a massive upgrade too both MLRS and Patriot systems.

American Super subs.
I call them Super Submarines. The Idea has been tossed around for Aircraft Carrier Subs and Landing ship subs For a long Time. Only The Japanese Ever Really built one and only two back in WW2 Here are the Problems I have With SSCVN's.
My First Is Take off. There is only one real way too Take off from a Sub, VTOL and SVTOL. CATBAR would demand a deck For it and would demand a Deck that would just not work. same for STOBAR. To SVTOL is the only option and here the Problems start. The Deck would have too be Stable and large. Of course to carry and air complement worth useing would demand a ship maybe the Size of Typhoon Class Or better. It would have to be fitted with elevators and a other Mechanics That would Complicate the Design. likely those systems would all have too be Electric to keep sound down. In addition the Hull of any modern Sub would need Sound Dampening Tiles. The Stress of a F35 Taking off on those Rubber like Tile mats would likely be a mission killer. the Hull would have too bare with Engine heating and then Ocean Cooling resulting in metal Fatigue. That's not to say It's impossible. too pull it off in my mind would demand a Ship built of maybe three Hulls. The central Hull being built For Operations, Crew, Armament and maintenance. The second and third hulls would be built for just propulsion, Detection Equipment and too house Reactors. The Forward section of the Main Hull would Have two Hanger Bays the Lower For maintenance the Upper for Flight operations and Storage. the Upper Bay Would have too Have a retractable Door system and fans To vent Exhaust Gasses. A set of high speed Silent Elevators would connect the two bays. I would image that in stead of a single Sail two smaller Types would do the Job and offer more open Airspace over the Boat.

I am Not sure what you were thinking about with the Submarine Cruiser All I can think of Is a Aegis Virginia Hybrid.

The Space Stuff was getting a little out there. Particular since in my View you did not need Asteroids. Rods of god, Hardened Metal the size of a telephone pole launched from a Railgun could do the Kenetic attack strike role. Rods Of God much faster then the fastest interceptor and way more precise coming in at hyper Mach speeds. Otherwise I liked Where You were going but Felt that the Lois and Clark2.0 mission would have been a better angle if it were done fore a less military aim. And it would have still stung the Chinese just as hard.
"THOSE B******* ARN'T Taking us seriously enough Landing on another planet well in time of War!"
The Prestige and peaceful nature of such a mission would have sent even more shock waves as The CAS and GIR would have realized that The US was still fighting with a hand behind there back.

finally Given the Number of Attacks on Connecticut I got to Ask What Did they ever do to you?
Really If you wanted too Wipe out a American uber left Bastion on the East Coast. I suggest Northampton, Ma. but If you do just make sure too give me Some warning before hand.

Thanks for taking the time to read the series and for your comments.

You have to remember, these books started 12 years ago, and the last one of the five was written in 2004.

Then I did an update and edit and produced them all in a single, large Hardback simply called, DRAGON'S FURY: World War against America and the West.

Three years ago I took that edition and split it into three books and put it up for sale on Apple iBook, Kindle, and all of the other readers at $3.99 per volume I think it was...so you get the whole thing for like $12.00.

Anyone on SD who wants to read the whole thing for free and do so at my PDF eBook site for the series

The 2005 Update is the best one to read as I did some updating for PLAN progress to that date and the real world scenario. The large Hardback selling on Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and all of the Reader and other eBook formats are still base don that. The five original Volumes are also still for sale on Amazon and Brnes & Noble, Volume I through Volume V.

A lot of what you indicated wih the Rods of Gods and other suggestions could have been done. But the Hail strom technology is actually ebing researched and produced in working prototype forms, and the use of large rocks as weapons has been talked about for decades...and if you can get to it...it's cheap.

I went into space the way I did in prep for the sequal...which I started in late 2008, but never finished after my serious bout with cancer in 2010. At this point, perhaps I will get back to that. It is a sci-fi story based over 100 years afyter events in dragon's Fury, but takes place between human factions that have expanded to the stars with the discovery of a FTL drive.

Finally, nothing against Connecticut. They just used the dam that exists there to take out the helicopter facilities down stream.

Again, thanks, and I hope if people take the chance to read the free ebook in PDF format, that if they like it they will consider at least purchasing the Reader format of their choice.

yeah call me old school if you like but I prefer the feel of paper. I was reading the hard cover condensed version. Any way like I page thanks for the home read.
I know how you feel...I prewfer print too.

But I have to admit to reading my fair share of books on my iPad. A GREAT series in that regard is the multiple volume Destroyermen Series by writer and historian Taylor Anderson. It's sort of an alternate history...but not really. An old four stacker US Destroyer about to be destroyed in the early days of World War II ducks (heds) into a squall line and goes through a really wierd electrical storm and ends up being transported inter-dimensionally to an alternate Earth where it becomes the most powerful weapon in that society of wholly different intelligent species.

Great read.

Mr Head, greetings from China, the country who got its arse handed to it in the novel.
I must confess, I am a bit upset at the ending (rooting for China all along), and as much as i would love to rant abt the fact that China's culture is wholly unsuited for a democracy (Look what happened in 1911-37), I don't think SDF allows that. And, I must admit, I hated Jien personally (Let's be honest, Jien Zenim is Jiang Zemin. The randy old toad.)
So instead, I ask this: If Dragon's Fury was set a few years later, and Weisskopf faced a Dragon with the weapons China currently fields (055 destroyers for example) PLUS the LRASDs, who would win?
I know I'm a bit late, and I am willing to admit I'm leaning in China's favour, but I'm curious to know what would happen if all the events of WW3 happened later, and could China have defeated the USA given time and advancements.
That said, Dragon's Fury was one of the best reads I picked up, and one that actually made me kind of root against my homeland, unlike others *cough* Dale Brow... *cough* *cough*. Anyway... nicely done on the action parts, looking forward to the final frontier!

And on a more serious note, before it eludes me: I am a Catholic, and I hope, pray, that you and your kin are fine, and that God will extend his hand to you.

In works of fiction, the side that wins is the side the author wants to win.

I could write a story about a China armed with sticks and stones winning against a US with Stargate alien tech.

Sol is right. The Author or Authors are responsible for the Story outcomes and there own Bias in regards to the outcome, but you also have to consider the Audience to. Jeff's books are published here in the US as such they are for an American audience.

I mean as a general rule I doubt a writer is going to get published by a US publisher if his audience is told that it all ends in defeat for them. Same for a movie. If in the end of the Movie it ends up being that the US looses generally ticket sales of the first showing will be okay but once they get on Twitter the movie will bomb domestically, and don't even think of Exports.

I know for a fact that there are Other publications that do it from the other side where they are more strongly written in favor of the PRC side, many written online and in print generally by those who are more favorable to the PRC and published for a more PRC biased audience.

Hah! True enough... to be honest, you're the first person on any forum like this I have ever seen acknowledge that point. Hats off to you, sir.
