Wow this is surprising. I guess China couldn't hold out against that much international pressure on her own. I believe that Russian support of the sanction also had something to do with this.

Nothing has happened as yet! They only agreed to talk about it, and before this, they are talking to the Iranians. If Hillary is so sure, it may be because they have finally settled to go for another 'toothless' round of sanctions which China can support.

Meanwhile, the US seems to have put Israel on the defensive, and if nothing else, this can have the effect of allowing such harmless sanctions to be passed without an uproar from that quarter.

China has deep economic interests in Iran. Sanctions can play a threat to those interests, so it will be important to allow China to continue developing those interests without any hindrances. If that can be assured, then China would probably respect sanctions.

doubtful of the results, given China's tremendous interests invested in iran...its gonna be at best a watered down version.

Sanctions are a waste of time. IRAN IS A THREAT> IMO Give one last chance for Iran to refrain from her nuclear bomb aspirations, or we in the West shall bomb the said facilities.
If Iran was to strike back against Israel or cause other mischief through her proxies in the middle east, then we will start to take out her oil producing capacity, as well as other industrial and civilian infrastructure.

All that I can see being accomplished by that is the opening of a very nasty can of worms, of which the US and NATO wouldn't fully appreciate until after the fact unfortunately.

I think I would take my chances with the can of worms, rather than having a Iranian version of N.K. but several times worse, in the Middle East.

that wouldnt be just a can of worms mate, more like a whole bathtub. despite what we say here the decision in washington is quite resolute...no war, and that's as far as i can see a very wise choice. i am happy neocons are no longer in power in washington.

What has NK do so far???

Takes yr chances with can of worms? Its not worms. Its a can of destructive killer virus. Iran will go for a free for all isurgent war which will be 10 times more serious than Iraq. and persian gulf will not have peace, oil price will shoot up 10times.. I hope u don't drive, cos yr petrol will be damm expensive to obtain.

Even Iran obtain nuclear weapon, what do u think they will do? Start shooting nuclear tip missile asking for its own destruction of its own from retaliation from western countries??

Look at Kim Jong II, even he is a brainless and mad man, he still know if he starts to play around with nuclear bomb, it will signal the end of his own.

I believe if Iran obtain nuclear weapon, it will be mainly a defensive of its own and gurantee its existence. Its nuclear arsenal will never beat Israel.

Look at NK. All the hot air and nothing happen.

lol bibby just refused to go to washington again for the nuke summit cuz he knows that obama is gonna scold him over palestine and his nukes.

the american strategy is to maintain a balance of power. that's y bush sr didnt bring down saddam in 91. (his son is of course, not as smart) iran acquiring nukes would for sure destroy that balance of power, no one wants to see that. but that vastly different from the kind of threat bladerunner is talkin about there. i can pretty much guarantee that if iran is to acquire nukes, they'll use it with as much caution as did any other countries have. i mean look at Mao, he was all like "yeah we can afford to lose 400million people in a nuke war so lets go all out", yet he was very cautious and clever with his nuclear policy. and then there is india-pakistan rivalry, we have two nuclear capable enemies-to-the-death and they have been we restrained in their nuclear policy. so experience tells me that if khomenei gets nuke he is not gonna throw it all over the place. of course that doesnt mean i support a nuclear iran cuz of course the balance of power stuff.
