Shenyang FC-31 / J-31 Fighter Demonstrator

Now, Now, lets not get cranky Eng, we are all getting older, and things that used to flow naturally, now operate in fits and starts, or not at all?? I think that your predisposition against Shen-yang, could be behind that??? So wasn't the export version labeled FC-17 at Zuhai? Now that I've got your attention, what do you think about 2016?? Are those nozzles shorter? or the nacelle longer, or same?

Brat my friend basically what Eng was saying is this.." whenever there's a PLAAF insignia painted on that so call J-31, than we talk.";):)

Do you mean JF-17 by "FC-17"? It's Chinese designation is FC-1 which is English "Fighter China 1", not a PLA designation. JF-17 is also English designation used by Pakistan, it stands for "Joint Fighter 17". So there is no "Jian" in it.

Could it be a marketing trick by SAC to give potential foreign buyers the impression that PLA is positively considering inducting J-31 into their own rank? an advertisement trick similar to the "Su-35 to China" trick.
My suspicion of it being official is that there are 10 numbers between J-20 and J-31, unless PLA switches to Russian practice of giving every variant of one airframe type a different number, it is hard to imagine that PLA has 10 4th(5th) generation fighters in their development pipeline. So far, the situation is confusion, with SAC doing Russian way as in J-11, J15 and J16, while CAC doing traditional PLA way J10A,B,x,x...

View attachment 18836 This is not real, but from the PLA AF official Video:
Well, it is a nice thought...and a potential dream for the JF-31 some day, but, as you say, it is clearly not real.

At this time, there is still only one nation on earth that could put six production 5th generation fighters in the air like that...and they could do it with two different aircraft.

Either six of the 185+ F-22 Raptors, or six of the 140 or so F-35 JSFs.

The most F-22s I have ever seen in the air in formation was ten.

The most F-35s I have ever seen in formation is five.

Now., I will say this, China could put six J-20s in the air, albeit they are not production yet. Boy, would THAT be something to see!

I wish they would do so for PR. Heck even two flying together in formation would be great...or three...or four!

Russia has what, still five PAK-FAs flying? so they couldnot do it at this time.

GAME ON! Aerial exercise of course! Brat and I would have >>> heart attack <<< and than pass out!:D;):):p
Yes...it is fun to visualize...but unfortunately, for now and the near future, that's all it can be,

There are no six JF-31s that could take part even if they wanted to.

And...hehehe...once they do have operational 5th gen aircraft (ie. J020s) you and I both know that they would never give each other any kind of look at the crown jewels anyway.

BTW, I did a little editing above...let's keep it clean, This is a family friendly forum. I do have grandkids who visit t see what Papa is doing.

Heh! Heh! Heh! there is a guy in Ft. Worth, that takes lots of F-35 pictures of the factory birds, he has a real knack for capturing them, showing their inner beauty!
