First, she didn't say any of those things. In fact, the article did not comment on the content of her interview at all, they only commented on the fact that she was the deputy chief designer of the J-15, and that during the interview she was presented as the current chief designer of an unspecified aircraft type. This unspecified aircraft type may be carrier based, but it's unclear if that was what was said during the interview or it's the author's guess. The way the sentence is written suggests the latter.
The rest of the article is purely the author's own speculation and analysis. He postulates that the unspecified aircraft type could be J-15T or FC-31. He also surmises that FC-31 is likely the chosen next generation naval fighter because people voicing support for J-20 are usually expert opinion and netizens, while people voicing support for FC-31 tend to be aeronautical research institutes and manufacturers. Again, those are purely the author's opinion.
Might just be an oversight. Remember how an F-16 made its way onto a Chinese railgun powerpoint? At least they used a domestically manufactured fighter this time.

Wow! that is a very put together bird Deino, I think we're seeing the Phoenix Rising here,, and I think its going to be an amazing airplane for the Chinese, very impressed with their newest "clean sheet design", and yes it is "rocket science", but it appears they are on the right track!
The J-31 now also has that slightly "chubby" look that the F-35 has.
