Following You posts in this regard since some time, may I ask if You are blind or is there another reason besides Your bias and hate ???

I know that for You the F-22 and F-35 are the crown jewels in modern aerial warfare - and they are surely so - , but to compare the FC-31 (even as a demonstrator) with the J-7 is either plain stupid, provocative or indeed "blind", which would explain why You "don't see any evidence"!

I do not want to say the FC-31 or J-20 are hyper-super Raptor killers, but at least a more balanced view would help in these discussions.:mad:

I assume you are replying to Blackstone.

Do yourself a favour and put him on your ignore list. It makes things much easier, given many moderators now seem to lack suspension and banning powers.

J31 is not ready for prime time. They need to get the bird flight proven before they can really star carrier builds and then carrier flight tests.
that being said, The PLAN will do as it pleases. F35A is getting ready for first deployments. F35B is following close and no matter what the Russians or Chinese do they will be ready for full deployment and operation before any other second only to F22. F35C is soon to go IOC, but will be ready before T50 or J20 fact.
however right now there is no need to rush and thank the divine there is no war to push the World's need of Carrier birds. For intimidation value across the China seas J15 is fine right now.

The PLAN wants carrier a version of the J20 and has no interest in the J31.

They pretty much made their preference for heavy fighters over medium clear by choosing to develop the J15 rather than buy Mig29Ks off the shelf.

I suspect future Chinese carriers will reflect this preference and scale up much closer in size to US super carriers than the Russian and European mediums.

Wolf I think that might have been more an issue of the PLAN and PLA not wanting mig 29 and wishing to push a more indigenous angle then rely on Russia for there main line naval fighter. Also remember the Indian order had the Russians playing with delivery and using the fighters for their own.

There's actually no evidence that the J-20 is preferred over the FC-31. The decision to pick the Su-33 design over that of the MiG-29 boils down to being able to develop and manufacture the former themselves.

For a navy that will have far fewer carriers than its US counterpart, it's important to have the maximum possible # of fighters on a given carrier.
