@dear moderators:

I have noticed that recently some members have been warned or even banned (you know the suspects) who probably come from countries (of course I cannot know that for sure!) in south east asia and the middle east where the internet is a fairly novel and heavily restricted information and communication tool. Consequently they know little about an acceptable standard of internet behaviour (´netiquette´) and their often crude and authoritarian style employed in their argumentation (+ a bad command of the english language!) often simply reflects their respective societies/civilizations.

Most of our members are Americans, Europeans and East Asians and as a forum about China´s military and security a certain standard has to be set and also consequently enforced but perhaps we should give new members from certain above mentioned regions a second chance. After a while they will probably learn their lesson and we will eventually appreciate knowledgeable members from countries where our current level of information is quite limited. My own experience on some pak and indian forums suggests that after an initial shock (do not get pissed off too soon!) a valuable discussion is thoroughly possible.

Please do not get me wrong:
I do not propose giving some ´third world people´(e.g. Pak,Arab,Myanmarese) a license to provoke and troll around where an american or chinese member would certainly get the boot. We are well advised not to lower the standards but we could make perhaps an extra effort of ´educating´new ´special´members to pass the ´test´!

No members were banned because of their poor english. Only those constantly talking about controversial politics, country bashing, or arguing with mods got banned. Also, those who got banned already had warnings.

Thank you to all those mods enforcing forum laws. Because of the adherence to policy, this forum has a higher reputation than other military forums, at least that's true from what I've heard.

Thanks for civilized and proper feedback...Nice change for the childish ranting :)

I know your concern and in fact I have personally threated all moderation incidences as unique depending on who is doing the required deeds. At least I try to understand the reasons behind the misbehaiving that requires moderation. But in the end the nationality does not really mean anything. Troll is a Troll regardless of his location. Also the most typical misbehaiving in here, just beeing plain childish and acting like spoiled kid is only related to age, nothing else. In fact I have noticed that members comming from outside USA or Europe tends to be much more adaptible to the forum rules and the authority of adms. and mods. My harhs generalizated obinion is that the western kids that no longer *enjoys* practically any disipline are more redultant to behaive badly than those comming from different cultures with traditional and more conservative values. In the case where non/westernes have been warned or even banned, they really did deserve it.

And as I said we treat every case individually so it is very rare that any got boot for wrong reasons...

But if there was some particular case/member in your mind PM me and I can give more insights.

Thanks, Gollevainen

Re: Sinodefence.com Suggestions

The updates to the "Small Arms" section as well as the "Artillery" section look great! It seems like you added a lot more items to the small arms page. Are you going to fill in the information on them in the future? I've noticed some pages missing that were there before, specifically the Type 56 assault rifle, QBU88 sniper rifle, the submachine guns (Type 64 and 75), and the pistols. Are you updating those? In the Surface Combatants page,

Type 051C (Luzhou Class) destroyer link directs to a picture and not the article

It seems like the surface-to-air missiles page is the only one that hasn't been updated.

This is a very nice looking website. Is it possible to make the links in each main page to change color (like blue) after they are clicked? Similar to globalsecurity.org,

, which have their's change from blue to brown. This way, it will will help people know what pages they've just visited. Thanks!

Re: Sinodefence.com Suggestions

Yes, I am gradually adding more contents to the small arms and crew-served weapon section. It will take some time to complete all pages but I am trying to find as much as materials and information as I can.

Also, I've fixed the problem with the Type 051C link.

To change the setting to make the visited links turn to different colour would mean that I have to change each page manually, and I have several hundred pages to change. So it is not possible at the moment but I'll bear that in mind in my next version of site design :)

Thanks again for your feedback, Ryz05

In the page on the Type054A FFG,
Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!
, the first picture to the right directs to the one about Type 053 Jiangwei class. But surprisingly, it's labeled Type 054 in the description of that picture

Are you updating Type 56 assault rifle? I wonder what's new. ;)

The problem with the Type 054 page has been fixed.

The link to the Type 56 page was also restored

Re: Sinodefence.com Suggestions

Dear Moderator and friends,

I thank you for hard work that makes sinodefence.com my daily web-visit. It is rich in information and systematically arranged.

I do have one suggestion, however. It will be great provide an overview or a definition of every military term, so that people like me can get the most out of this site.

For example, "Target-Drone" is a foreign term to people like me. Or, under satellitte or space-launched vehicle, it is useful to make distinctions among various space hardware, their purpose and military application.

I know this suggestion might sound burdensome, but this is just a sincere hope of a sinodefence.com lover like me.

Thank you very very much for the great work

Sinodefence is a daily site for me too. It's such a well-designed and fun site to read. There is a glossary page to help with the abbreviations,
Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!
, but it's not really a dictionary. I had a hard time with words like "target drone" until I read some of the articles in that section about UAVs being used for target practice. I usually search google or wikipedia for terms I'm not familiar with, but it'll be great if DongFeng has the time to make a military dictionary.

DongFeng, can you make the slot for "J-10 Fighter Declassified" greyish blue that conform with the other news slots? Making the colors conform provides for better aesthetics, and the bold titles are enough for separating the different articles. Or, you can just present the most recent article in a white background, with subsequent ones in greyish blue. The topic boxes for the columns on the right can also conform to the same color (grey or greyish blue). In the Artillery page
Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!
, can you divide the anti-aircraft artillery into towed and self-propelled like you did for the regular artillery?

Finally, it will be great if you can specify which equipments are prototype/export/retired in the tables, maybe by putting them in parenthesis next to the names or using a different colored title. To make it simpler, you can mark the main productions with a blue-colored bullet and all the black colored ones will be prototype/export/retired/limited production. If the quantity produced is stated in the main page tables, labeling them as main productions will not be necessary.
