Since the US Army and Socom both now also have such systems it should be apparent that this is a concept has a future. The Key advantages.
1)It reduces the weight of the MG by shifting the Ammo Weight to the pack. This also reduces the bulk of the weapon and allows a lower profile allowing the weapon to be taken to the prone in a easier manner
2) because these packs are belted ammo and a single belt in this pack can be equal to up to 5 belts in a weapon mounted belt. meaning less reloading which in the case of a belt feed MG can take a long time.

The Key disadvantage is that the feed system is more complicated and can be made to jam by improper positioning.
The Gunner is carrying a lot of weight and the feed system is a dead giveaway for snipers.
Reloads require more extensive manipulation of the weapon to remove the empty feed and mount a new pack or switch back to a box.

Not sure about that Equation. The STSh-81 was the classic Speznats helmet it was made of Titanium it was replaced by Identical but Steel SSSh-94. It's made in three pieces the center line which is bowed for fit from forhead to neck and the rounded ears. this helmet looks to be a single shell. the style looks like one of the newer PASGT based designs may be the 6B27. It's got the side rails we saw in this post

I suspect that helmet is the first of many spirals of new kit. note alot of the other russians in the same photos are wearing and using alot of Western gear and helmets. Infact every other photographed individual is wearing a American made Ops Core Fast and Crye Precision Multicam

I’m really starting to like the Mig-35. Does anyone know when it is going into production? Are they waiting for a launch customer?
