Armata turret looks actually quite small when you compare it to that improved 125mm gun. How heavily such turret can be armored is questionable... of course it increases crews changes to survive when hit but increased change of mission kill becomes bigger problem.

I'd be surprised if that turret has thick frontal and side armor. Of course it could be driving without any sort ERA or other add on armor but we'll see that soon enough.

Actually, according to designers, ARMATA will have better protection of turret then any existing tank , including Abrams, Leopard or Merkava . This is partially because of its small size (smaller volume and somewhat increased weight means much thicker and more slopped walls of the turret) .

Real question would be protection of hull, especially sides and rear , because to keep weight limited those areas cannot be armoured as rest of the tank .

Is it real?

If it is, then it looks like Armata will be longer and bigger overall than any of the T series tanks ever were.

Also, where did that fume extractor go?

The location is believed to be real. this is a earlier video many point to as the same location with a T90 Crossing a road.
Why did the T90 cross the road? Ask the Chicken.

? now the vehicle behind it is a BMD 4M which is roughly 2.5 meters ( BMD is actually taller then BMP) in height it's sitting not to far back so perspective is a factor but height wise the Kurganets hull alone looks to be about the same size as the BMD with turret Meaning it would easily sit higher then BMP1/2/3 as well. it also has wider tracks and a much heavier hull. I would even dare say it looks like a Bradley IFV in hight

When we look at the Armata tank and this IFV the Russians seem to be super sizing there armor.

LOL! Good one.

Why? Because it could Comrad.

Why? Faster route to the Ukraine.

Why? Ascribing motives to poultry is a bourgeois act of intellectual elitism.

Why? Because we hadn’t built a wall across it yet. The next one that tries to defect won’t find it quite so easy.

I could continue, but I shan’t.

What's even more interesting is the article says the Admiral Essen and the Admiral Makarov will be commissioned this year -- I'll try to search Russian Internet for more news ...
