Actually the Su-27 had an X-band planar array radar (Bars) when it came out. So it was not behind the F-15. In fact when NATO had a chance to examine it they were surprised it wasn't a valve tube mess like the MiG-25's. To them it looked like the Soviets had skipped 2-3 generations of radar technology at once.

The Russians believed that in the event of war there side would be showered with ICBMS and there fighters would be showered with EMP, Radiation and EW jamming. As such they doubled down on weapons and types of sensors. So that they felt if a missile or sensor went stupid they had a back up.
Sensor fusion is a modern concept that works as combining the feeds from different sensors to create a combined image. That requires a degree of computer integration not found in the 1980s. They had an okay radar for the time. But if everything is blasted with enough of the EM spectrum to spontaneously turn corn fields into popcorn the radar is going to have issues.

But in real combat situations...

F-15 Eagles have a record of 102 to zero against mostly Russian/Soviet aircraft.

Air-to-air kills – Air-to-air losses – Losses to ground fire

F-15A/C/I/S Eagle 102-0-0
Gulf War (USA) 32-0-0
Gulf War (Saudi Arabia) 2-0-0
Northern Watch, Southern Watch, Desert Fox (USA) 2-0-0
Bosnia (USA) 0-0-0
Kosovo (USA) 4-0-0
Afghanistan (USA) 0-0-0
Iraq (USA) 0-0-0
Syrian border clashes 1979-1981 (Israel) 19-0-0
Operation Opera (Israel) 0-0-0
Lebanon War (1982) (Israel) 38-0-0
Lebanon War 1982-2000 (Israel) 4-0-0
Lebanon War (2006) (Israel) 0-0-0
Iran Gulf Clash 1984 (Saudi Arabia) 1-0-0

And yet, not a single one of those kills was against Russian Air Force, let alone the Su-27 Flankers.

It's academic. In mock enhancements with SU27 sometimes eagles win sometime Flankers. The USAF has conducted joint training missions against Russian trained Air forces and is believed to have operated a small number of the SU27 as part of its aggressor training schools.

Yes I have read about americans buying Ukrainian Su-27s to train specialist units within the usaf. That they've even trained against Ukrainian Air Force using the old Soviet tactics and of course the indians with their Su-30s have also held regular air exercizes. Which is all dandy, but Russia was and is fully aware of this. And logically they've addressed accordingly.

The statement still stands undisputed, that there has been no instance where usaf or any other F-15 operator, go up against Russian Aerospace Forces' Su-27s and has come out with a kill. In all wars, conflicts that usaf has been part of, it did not go up against any adversary which operates Su-27s. So the 105-0 kill ratio has no bearing on the Su-27s capabilities against the F-15s. In truth, one can only really tell if there ever would be a confrontation, skirmish, or war where both aircraft meet each other head to head in combat, american vs Russian.

For all our sakes, I hope that this doesn't ever happen. No one would really want to experience WW3, unless they're totally deranged or psychotic.

And the same holds in visa versa. The Russian Air forces have never faced off against the USAF USA and no SU27 has ever actually battled a F15.
So again it's academic.

The Russians have engaged in aggressive bullying type behavior with old and slow recon aircraft, shooting down several unarmed aircraft early on, but they have never engaged US or Western contemporary fighter designs..... while the Flanker may well be more agile in the very low speed regime, that's not necessarily so once the throttles are advanced to the stops in actual combat operations. The F-15 is extremely agile and forgiving, achieving its outstanding maneuverability with a very high lift wing, the Flanker does have a slight advantage as you "merge". The F-15 has done very well against the Flanker's flown by "friendly" Air Forces in all "combat exercises"...

The F-22 on the other hand remains the agility Queen, it develops lift all over, being a more advanced aerodynamically "lifting body", the F-35 is a very close second due to a similar "lifting body" design...

The F-35 "break-out" at RIAT is an awesome demonstration of what the F-35 will do everyday, with somebody who is physically fit enough to exercise that aircraft to its airframe limits,,, that was a full on 9G break-out turn, momentarily "unloading the airframe", then a violent roll-over, and equally hard pull to the right....

I would point out that the Chinese demonstrated a very similar maneuver at Zhuhai, where a J-20 in a very hard left turn, is then "unloaded" aerodynamically and then rolled very hard to the right, so the J-20 has a very agile airframe as well.

I completely agree with your view that hostilities between any of the big three will be a major "shit-storm" on both ends for everyone involved.... and should be avoided by all sane people.
