Proof again Armata is not as easy to build as the fans would like. Also proof that despite claims otherwise the Turbine powered T80 is still a good damn Tank and not leaving Russian service for some time. The Trade off of fuel efficiency to power and performance is not a bad deal and this new one has an APU to allow the tank to operate at a stand still without running the turbine.

Yeah but consider before external tanks the T80 fuel tanks carry 240 Gal meaning it as a range of about 200 miles... sorry 300 KM. to place it in perspective the average civilian car lets say Toyota Camry is about 15-16 gal and only weighs 1-1.5 tonnes well the T80 weighs in a 46 tonnes well the Camry might get 36 MPG it only gives 300 Horses The T80 gives 1,250 horse power and will start as low as -50 C
by the way Abrams gets something like 1500 HP and .59 MPG but remember the Abrams gas Turbine is about a decade younger. And the T90 gets about .98 MPG and Leopard 2 is about 1 MPG so if you are worried about fuel economy I suggest a prius not a Main Battle Tank .

Now what you get from the Turbines in the Abrams and T80 is lots of power, very low operating temperatures, lower maintenance needs, it will run on any flammable fuel Jet Fuel, Gasoline ( Petrol), Diesel, Vodka, Moonshine, Vegetable fryer oil and it's quiet compared to a conventional Turbo diesel Scary quiet.
