We are really getting to see the Russian Air Force in action over Syria like it has rarely been seen.
For the Russians, they are supporting one of their principal allies, and they are showing the world that they have their precision weaponry and capabilities too.
Also Tartus port is the only overseas permanent base also in Armenia, Uzbekistan but different.
USSR get some others but much less far than USN which is one of its strengths, had to Vietnam Cam Ranh, Yemen especialy in Socotra and Libya, Benghazi with ofc in Warsaw Pact allies.

, this is the frigate’s final test before joining the Russian Navy.

These are powerful frigates. The second, the Admiral Kasatonov, has also been launched and is outfitting.

The Russians desperately need 12-16 of these to replace the older Sovremenny and Udaloy destroyers.

Mig-31 modernization on Sokol aviation plant. Nizhny Novgorod

Back to bottling my Grenache
Mirage you would be almost essential :)

Mig-31B and BS are modernized in BM and BSM in general named Mig-31BM, main difference new radar, AA-X-13 soon in service normaly and capable to be armed with air to ground weapons but actualy don' t get.
Despite its huge size he don' t have a very long range btw Mig-29/Su-27 enormous reactors consume a lot.

5 very recently delivered to Savasleika OCU for Mig-31 have 13 now.
73 Mig-31BM now for a total of 134 Mig-31 all variants planned all modernized for ~ 2020 and remains in service at less up to 2030 normaly replaced by Mig-41 to see...

To recognize more easy as Su-27 :) 2 new hard points under wings now 4.
