tQsgaMJ.jpg

According to Kozhin, the Russian Navy decided to organize a new carrier based fighter wing consisting of 24 new MiG-29K (single seat) and MiG-29KUB (dual seat) multirole fighter aircraft. It is expected that the formation of the new regiment will be completed by the end of 2015. Kozhin said that at this point the manufacturer Russian Aircraft Corporation MiG (RAC "MiG") is to perform the final delivery of dozens of MiG-29K for an existing contract for these fighters.

so I guess they'll launch the Igla missiles, shoot AK-630 CIWS ... if I happened to find details, I'd post

I wonder if they can do it. I mean for a country which hasnt built any surface ship bigger than a frigate (and needed france to supply a 21000t amphibious ship), going to this new project is really a feat. EVEN if they can, what about the cost?

Well, the reports says at one point that Russian's actions speak louder than words and that the US has got the "shivers" regarding this new destroyer.

...a new destroyer which has not been built yet, and is not scheduled to even start building for another 4 years. At least.

IMHO, this is another example of Russian "words" from Sputnik.

To date when it comes to the Russian new carrier, this new huge, super, do-all destroyer, the planned Russian stealth bomber, etc., etc. that's all we have is words. And we have been getting them for years with constant "new" dates.

So...as with some of the other pronouncements...until I see something actually being launched at this point. I take it with a grain of salt.

Now...the new Russian Borei SSBN, and the new Russian Yasen SSN, and even the new Admiral Gorshkov FFG, at least with those projects there is something substantive there in the form of very capable vessels that have actually been launched.

But the build rate is still glacial.

And if the new vessels they do build are having such a terrible time of being built in any numbers...well, until something changes, the only thing I take away from that article, and this proposed new super destroyer:

is the one statement..."actions speak louder than words."

Yes agreed...and also with regards to the new Kilo, Yasen, Grigorovith and Gorshkov .

But at least with those programs they actually launched something! All of those others are what we call "vapor-ware".
