No doubt the PAK-FA is an outstanding airshow aircraft, and it is agile, some of those maneuvers such as the cobra might be employable in a close in furball, but they also bleed a lot of energy and leave you "hanging", not really what you want, but like Maverick, it might give you an element of surprise???
Maneuvers like that are intended to be a last ditch measure in air combat, especially when avoiding missiles . As we all know, missiles have their own g-limit, which is much higher then those on aircraft. But also, they have much higher speed . Centripetal acceleration is ac = v*v/r , or in other words it is proportional to square of speed . With missile going 2-3 Mach, and aircraft going 0.5 Mach or even less , it is clear that if missile wants to keep same turning radius as the plane, it would have to endure at least 16 times greater acceleration . Of course, missile does not need to match turning radius of plane to damage/destroy it, but with current max g-load of missiles somewhere around 40g , even 5g maneuver by plane could be enough to escape .
Btw, according to some rumors, newer Russian planes like Su-35 and Su-30 SM should have built-in "automatic missile avoidance maneuver" to be performed by aircraft automatic pilot when MAW sensor detects enemy missile in close proximity . Don't know if it is true, but it could be interesting concept .
Not to mention a hell of a lot easier to transport. A Dirt Bike or ATV can be transported inside any medium sized utility chopper or aircraft even stowed aboard a large Boat for infiltration where a Jeep demands a much larger transport. A small Speznats team could be dropped with 2 Quads from a Mi24 where a UAZ-3151 would have to be under slung from a Hip or have to be floated in on a landing craft.ATVs are most definitely very useful vehicles for a military but a lot of people have wrong perception of them, in part, due to video games.
ATVs are method of getting from point A to point B. Plain and simple.
They do have weapons but they are there either as cargo or as extra firepower in case of ambush.
ATVs are not combat vehicles. Their purpose is to quickly get near combat zone where you dismount and proceed into combat on foot.
They are meant to reduce legwork of infantrymen and provide space for some extra gear that may come in handy but which would otherwise be left at the base due to weight.
ATVs are not supposed to do the job of jeeps that you mentioned. Jeeps are proper vehicles, ATVs in military are simply another type of additional equipment. Do not let the fact that they have wheels fool you.....
All in all, not bad for something that, unlike Jeep or something similar, is cheap, simple and, I can't emphasize this enough, completely disposable.
