China needs to have gotten 9M96 when and since they first got RIF-M long ago to put on the 051C. Copy here and there, and they can be quad packing 052Cs and Ds now.

Russian media reported over the weekend that the People's Liberation Army (PLA) of China had conducted a successful test of one of its S-400 air defense systems.

During the test, the S-400 reportedly shot down a ballistic target at a distance of about 250 kilometers, moving at a speed of around 3 kilometers per second.

The report adds that the system was used under jamming conditions to validate the performance capabilities of the missile against electronic warfare methods.

China and Russia concluded a deal for the procurement of four to six S-400 units in November 2014, making Chinese armed forces the first foreign customer of the Russian-made system. The first regiment of S-400 was delivered to China in May 2018.

The S-400, also called Triumf or Triumph, is a long-range surface-to-air missile system produced by Almaz-Antey. It is designed to engage, ECM, radar-picket, director area, reconnaissance, strategic and tactical aircraft, tactical and theatre ballistic missiles, medium-range ballistic missiles and other current and future air attack assets at a maximum range of 400 km, and an altitude of up to 30 km. The system’s radars can detect aerial targets at a distance of up to 600 kilometers.

wondering whether the Russian systems use US made/designed chips ... also wondering where the Russian produce their high end chips?

I am no aware that Russia have any high-end chip manufacturers
S-300/400 using ELBRUS .

Russai had 90nm capability in 14, I think it is safe to expect that they posses 45 or 22 now.

45 /22 can be good for anything .

thanks. It seems that Mikron still stuck with 90nm technology

Interesting that TSMC is used also to produced ELBRUS ;)

my previous i7 computer was i7-950 in 2009 with 45nm process tech ... I still have it and to be honest, not much slower than my current Skylake i7-6700K which I built it in 2015

052Ds (or any other ship with UVLS, idk if cylinder VLS ships like the 052C can do it though) can carry quad packed missiles, but not HQ-9s or eventual navalized S400s or HQ-19s. These are very large missiles.

TMSC making 28nm ELBRUS CPUs as well.

45 nm require multiple patterning, that cut into half the capacity of the fab and driving up the design / manufacturing cost.

Considering that Russia needs to make lot of CPUs since 2014 due to sanctions for missiles, satellites and so on it is safe to say they try to keep low the cost and high the capacity.

Mikron's leading edge process seems to be 65 nm. AFAIK they still use 200 mm wafers too. That limits their production capacity even more.
Elbrus designs chips with at least two architectures. SPARC clones and designs based on their own 2K VLIW architecture.

are you saying that 45nm can be produced by 90nm equipment but with 1/2 the capacity? really?

(remarwk - I am not expert on this field, this is the informations that I collected to understand why the cost decrease of ICs stopped years ago)
The semiconductor industry using 193nm lasers even for 10nm parts.
The only way to do that is using multiple patterning, it means that the final pattern generated in several step, using interference patters from different masks.

However, the cost composition is a bit deeper, because two third of the semi plants come from cleaning/air filtration, the leftover from actual machines.

Problem is multiple patterning (And many other issue with smaller features) increase dramatically the cost of IC design.
IF a country learning the IC design, and has to make a lot of different type the simplest is to use 90nm technology, that gives the cheapest design for low volume ICs.
