My latest health update includes news that my radiation treatments which were scheduled to start this week on the 13th, had to be pushed back to the 20th. The Dr could not get a good enough view of my spinal chord in relation to one of the tumors, so had to get a special MRI (well over 2 hours in the tube) in order to ensure the safety of my spinal chord during the 6-beam proton radiation sessions. Disappointing because I have to say I am ready to get home and sit on the porch with our dog, Lady and have her fetch. If all goes as planned, we will start home that weekend, the 24th.

Once home though, they want me to start some molecular receptor targeted Chemo which I am not particularly looking forward to, but which may help against particularly the tumor in my liver. Then back to Houston in October for two weeks for more radiation.

This is the plan they have come up with and after a lot of thought and prayer, we feel like it provides a path forward that the good Lord would have me walk.

As always, to everyone, family, my co-workers, and so many other friends and relatives who have prayed, encouraged, and helped us...we thank you from the bottom of our hearts and pray God's blessings on you!

Two last comments. The Lord has touched my heart even more deeply about genealogy and I have started more work on several lines my Dad and I got back into the 1400s several years ago. There is a great spirit about such work.

Also, I have recovered enough to where Gail is letting me drive my pickup again for right now, which I always enjoy!

We all love you brother! Continue being steadfast. God is working his miracle in you.

Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

I am not sure whether this has been posted on some other forum. My apologies if it has.
Im led to believe that life as a policeman in Singapore is 'pretty cruisey', so this must have been pretty exciting for them.
He walked into a bank with a note which he passed to the teller and demanded money and got away with $30k, maybe chump change by Singapore standards but it would go a long way in Thailand I guess.
With their rather draconian laws, wonder how many strokes of the rotan and jail time he will get.

BANGKOK – A Canadian man suspected of robbing a Singapore bank has reportedly been detained by police in Thailand.

Local media outlets say David James Roach was taken into custody at a hostel in Bangkok, after travelling to the Thai capital from Singapore.

The media reports say Roach allegedly walked into a bank in Singapore last Thursday and handed over a note saying he was armed and wanted money.

Keep it up Jeff. Compared to you my ailments which require periodic hospitalization are rather insignificant.

Good to hear from you my friend. I pray your health continues to recover and stay strong in your faith. This forum is definitely missing it's heartbeat in your absence.

We went to NASAs Space Center in Houston. It was great! You really need an entire day. Both to see it all, and to get your money's worth ($25 each). Go to the Flick album to see all the pics.

Flying to the US next month, hopefully I'll find myself some time to visit there. Wonder if Chinese exclusion policy of NASA takes effect there. Always wanted to see the space shuttle with my own eyes. Such a beautiful and elegant thing.

Equivalent of spitting 30,000 bubble gums on the ground maybe?;)

Talking about sights to see, today I witnessed the "swearing in" of Mollies boyfriend Mitch into the United States Marine Corp. I am very humbled by this fine young man and his intense desire to serve his country by becoming an US Marine.

I was invited to attend his swearing in by my daughter Mollie, and Mitch's parents Jeff and Kathy, and I have no doubt that Mitch will be "squad leader" before his basic is over. (Marine Corp Boot is 13 weeks) I hope you will join me and pray for Mitch, and Mollie as she fully supports him on this new journey in his life. Mollies twin Baxie's, boyfriend Blane, is scheduled to swear in to the US ARMY in September, his objective is to become an Army Ranger. These guys are very fine and respectful young men, a caliber above your average Joe Citizen, and I am very proud of both of them.

So I am asking you as my brothers in arms here on the Sino Defense, if you would say a prayer for Mitch, and ask the Lord's blessings on both he and Mollie, you would have each been proud of her. No matter what your nationality, young men who desire to serve their countries are a credit to their people, and help to their nation.

Pacific Senntinel said:
JAVA SEA (NNS) -- Five inflatable boats carried 20 members of the Indonesian Marine Corps from the mountainous backdrop of southwest Indonesia to amphibious dock landing ship USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) to conduct a subject matter expert exchange with U.S. Sailors and Marines, Aug. 1.

"Operations like these continue to build strong bonds between nations and their militaries through cohesive learning and by breaking down barriers of diversity that normally separate us," said Gunnery Sgt. Jonathan Nentl, an assault amphibious vehicle crew chief for the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

During the exchange, held in Harpers Ferry's well deck, Marines discussed amphibious operations, techniques and equipment for safely and efficiently landing marine forces on a coastline.

A little off topic, but, Orange Hobby just recently came out with a 1/350 scale Harpers Ferry, LSD-49. I am pretty excited about it because it will allow me to completely build my actual ARG for the US Navy.

Harpers-02.jpg

I already have the USS Iwo Jima, LHD-7, the USS New York, LPD-21, and the DDGs, CG, and FFGs to go with them....but I could not find a 1/350 scale LSD.

Harpers-05.jpg

Harpers-06.jpg

Now, since they came out with this model...I will be able to have the entire ARG, just like I have an entire CSG built around the USS Enterprise, CVN-65 in 1/350 scale.

I am pretty excited about it.

But it is not an injected molded plastic model. Instead it is a Resin kit with photp etch and other pewter and metal parts...which means it is more expensive. But heck, I can save for it...and will in order to get the full ARG built.
