Thats What I have been saying.
I don't see any evidence of the grenade launcher having a independent magazine

Disclosing something new in such an "improper" way...hmmm...either that's out of character for PLA, or the "ZH-05" is nothing more than a R&D project only aimed to keep abreast with current trend of small weapons R&D. That said, it won't be introduced "as it is" to the unit (after all, we are still stick to the "christmas tree" modular system, and PLA is still yet properly see the merit of it yet!) , so somebody high up the food chain let the thingy get some limelight time...I think.

To be fair, this ZH-05 doesn't deviate from the trend of other projects that much, especially considering it is a ground forces small arm rather than a fighter or ship

Begin with a few opportunistic photos. In this case, being a small arm, we saw some kind of brochure/placard first
Then we had a series of pictures of it being under test and PLA evaluation.
It underwent a few changes from the initial prototype.
Then we finally get pictures suggesting a weapons is under serious consideration for service: usually advanced stages of testing/imminent to equipping units, or in this case, being featured in some kind of PR display, which isn't unusual for ground forces equipment. Many PLA AFVs first got their biggest spotlight with PR displays.

So I'd say at the very least it isnt "nothing more" than an R and D project, and at the very most, it is due to enter operational service (or already has entered operational service) among some active units in a limited degree (not to say the gun will be spread wide by any means; given its cost, I doubt we will see anyone other than SOF and some of the more elite recon units hauling them even once the program is finished).

Also, remember that we heard some PLAN marines on anti piracy deployments were apparently armed with ZH05 too

The Use of Such a Weapon has Analogs outside the PLA, The US M25, Neopup and K11.
As a system these are not replacements for individual weapons but specific Squad weapons integrated on a set number per squad. I don't know the configuration of arms of a PLA Rifle squad but one or two per Squad for a front line unit would not be out of line.

I don't see magazine for the big barrel, how are they going to feed it?

One option is a internal magazine, Like some bolt guns one would either feed in a stripper clip like the old M1 Garand, or hand load in Each round. The other is a single shot bolt action in which each round is hand loaded much like the Barrett M90

That CGI is wrong with the placement of the ammo feed and bolt for the integrated grenade launcher. It should be on the other side to suit right handed infantrymen.

The choice to go with single load would also be a bit odd, and runs against similar designs. If you are going with a single should grenade launcher, what's the point integrating it in the rifle? Easier and cheaper to just develop a smart scope and link that to an existing or new clip on under-slung grenade launcher that can be retrofitted to all existing rifles and call it a day.

There is clearly enough space in the unusually long and thin stock for a grenade round magazine. Even a small 3-5 round one would make a big difference for not that much weight.

No, Wolf I thinks it's right on the placement for a Right hander right side shooter. its roughly the same location as on the QBZ95.
I do however question the Type of Bolt action. That shows a Mauser style bolt action, this means that the shooter would have to take their right hand off the pistol grip push up on the bolt pull back and then cycle forward (assuming a internal magazine) and lock the bolt. If this was a sniper rifle I could see it. but as a Grenade launcher on a double gun. I think a streight pull bolt action would be more logical

It is possible for the PLA to do so based around the QBZ95 and QLG10A or comperable systems and it would likely be cheaper then developing the ZH05. the question is however one of capasity and rate of fire. If ZH05 has a magazine either internal or external then it has the capacity for firing at a higher rate of fire. It would also have a longer range.
