I couldn't believe that we don't have a dedicated tread on this venerable type ...

Besides that these hotos were posted today over at the CDF showing a Q-5D prototype armed with the JJ/TL-10A ASM.

But is this photo real !!??? ... :confused:both missiles in the front fiew look very much like "mirrored" and isn't this missile larger than shown on the Q-5 ?

Last photo where it shows a top shot,.

Is it my eyes or they changed the wings a bit.
seems like a bigger flaps and bigger area over all.

Since the size of PLAAF’s Q-5 fleet is generally underestimated, this seems to be a good place to set the record straight, as I see it:

5 Attack Division Weifang
- 13 Avn Regt Weifang 10x6x (01-49) Q-5D/L
- 14 Avn Regt Zhuzheng 10x6x (51-99) Q-5C/L
- 15 Avn Regt Weifang 11x6x (01-49) JH-7A ex Q-5 2007

11. Attack Division Siping
- 31 Avn Regt Siping 20x2x (01-49) JH-7A ex Q-5D 2009
- 32 Avn Regt Dalian-Sanshilipu 20x2x (51-99) Q-5D
- 33 Avn Regt Wafangdian 21x2x (01-49) Q-5D

15. Attack Division Datong-Huairen
- 43 Avn Regt Datong-Huairen 20x6x (01-49) J-7D
- 44 Avn Regt Qizhou Q-5
- 45 Avn Regt Suizhong 21x6x (51-99) Q-5C/D

28. Attack Division Hangzhou
- 82 Avn Regt Hangzhou-Jianqiao 30x9x (01-49) Q-5D
- 83 Avn Regt Hangzhou-Jianqiao 30x9x (51-99) JH-7A ex Q-5 2004
- 84 Avn Regt Jiaxing 31x9x (01-49) JH-7A ex Q-5D 2011

So are you saying that the PLAAF has around 600 Q-5s of all variants in service?

A lot of ppl underestimating Q-5, they are good plane, do their job properly. Cost effective and fully functional.

Apart from SK, Japan, Russia and of course USNavy Q-5 still more than enough to deal with

I am not too optimistic about it... Taiwan, India and perhaps Vietnam can also handle Q-5. Only real third world military like the Philippines might have problem handling this aircraft, other than that most neighbours that might cause the most problem could handle this aircraft easily.

Honestly the Q-5 should be reserved for anti-tank missions.
