Ancient Chinese Pyramids

Actually, the royal families of Chou to Han Dynasty are buried in these pyramids. But they become particularly expensive to build so the practice was eventually abandoned.

I recall reading an article some time ago about an expert claiming that the pyramids in China and those in South America were built using the same construction techniques, and this has lead him to be convinced that they must have been built by the same people

Hmm. What was his expertise on, architecture or anthro? Seems like a dubious claim.

If I can recall correctly, the "expert (or author)" was only referenced by the article. I tried googling but something else pop up.

There's no knowledge what the pyramids of China were used for except that the Emperor Qin is buried in one. Other than that, they're pretty much a mystery. Also another note, virtually all of the pyramids in China are just human-made dirt mounds. The one Emperor Qin is buried in does have a structure underneath but wouldn't call it a pyramid according to what sonar images make it.

I agree. I don't think these structures were considered "pyramids" in ancient China. They are actually called mounds. They piled dirt up to make a mountain and then carve the inside empty to fill it up with stuff. In the case of emperor Qin, they built the entire China (on scale of course) in it, supposedly with mountains and lakes and palaces. I think they did detect high level of underground mercury in the mound, suggesting that there might be some truth to the myth.

There have been alot of talks about the aztec are actually descendent of Shang dynasty, which is a pre Qin dynasty, the 2nd founding after the very 1st Shia Dynasty, while Qin is really 4th dynasty.
