Yes.

1991/92 in the former Yugoslavia

Spare me your bravado....just because you've playing video games and watching war movies doesn't make you an expert in killing

What unit? what country? what was your military occupational specialty?
Me...I was with the 1st Cav Division/// 1st"Iron horse brigade"///2-8 cav "Mustang" Battalion/// /Delta-co/ "Death Dealers" 2nd platoon- My call sign was "White 2" I operated as a gunner and limited TC on a M1A1. My big boy was called DOA "Dead on Arrival" My tank looked funny because we welded a sheet of tungstin steal to the front because we had not transitioned to the M1A1 with DU armour and were nervous about that. I was also the plow Victor.

I fought to the east of of "phase line 73 easting" now called the battle of 73 easting under a tasking order to another unit and then was also involved in the battle of wadi al batin to my east on another tasking order after Division Arty blew its wad. That was a recon in force that turned into a fight.

I then proceeded under another "outside of main unit tasking order" around to the Basra to Baghdad Highway with small fights on the way. I then sat outside of Basra while at times running up 20 miles north west of Basra conducting observation missions. I watched the Repubican Gaurd roll into Basra and kill thousands of shia after the cease fire.

I have engaged and destoyed approxmatiy 25+ active combat AFV mainly 14 MTLB and a few BMP-2, a couple T-62, maybe 4 Type-59 and 2 or 3 T-72. I could not tell you how many non-active or unoccupied AFV I had engaged.

You need to be very careful before calling someone out for no reason. My friends and leaders who I fought with some are now field Grade officers and such ,I get much info from them.

....

the State Department announced separately that Turkey had approved transit of two US navy ships into the Black Sea to transport humanitarian relief supplies to Georgia.

The vessels were to include two US Navy ships and a US Coast Guard cutter, State Department spokesman Robert Wood said.

Their mission will test the Russians' promise to relinquish control over Georgia, including over the Black Sea port of Poti.

I'm not american so the units I was with won't make any sense to you. I was a paratrooper originaly, but as events unfolded I ended up in what could be described as a para-military unit.

I don't like discussing my private history on public forums and the topic here is the Georgian war.....BTW, there are unconfirmed reports circulating that Georgian 4th and 2nd Brigades were badly mauled.....apparently their death toll could be well over a thousand

yea, the 4th was hurt in ossetia and the other unit saw limited action in Gori north. I have heard 400+ dead or KIA from the 4th. I heard the units in Gori bailed.

BTW, Had a Lt in Bravo company take 30 days leave and fought with the croatian Tiger brigade. He was croatian by birth. He operated a T-55 and helped adivise also on flash and storm. were you serb or croatian

As nationalistic as I am with supporting my own country I can tell you I was very pissed off when NATO with "skippy" clark/clinton giving Kosovo to the Muslims as I believe Kosovo is intergral part of Serbia. It would be like obama giving southern Cal to mexico just because a bunch of illegal mexicans live there. I dont know why you guys did not stand your ground. Clinton was tiring of the airwar and was to chicken shit to go in on the ground.

The Lt. Friend could not stand the the bosnian Muslims but hated you guys more. He did think bosnia should of just been split two ways...serbo-croatian. The Jihadi made him nervous and he could see the muslims especially hizbullah were starting to operate and were actually dropping off weapons at Dubrovnik which they said they would transport to Bosnian Muslims but instead went to Zagreb

sorry, just chating with the guy and got a little side tracked.

Anyway. This thing seems to be taking a back seat to russian talk towards Poland. I wonder what will be the first weapon system the U.S will give to little ole Georgia. Condy Rice has already made statements that weapons will be coming. A package of more than a billion in aid both military and rebuilding. My thoughts are on arms package
1. SPYDER Israeli AD
2. SPIKES ,Javelin and TOW, more Barret .50, Remington 700 and PSG1.
3. I-Hawks from Israel
4. Armour from the Ukraine
5. Finally Patriot Missile battery's with American advisors for quick operation.

Bofors BILL 2 should be coming in towards the end of next month.

Sorry for off-topic, but just out of curiosity what is
tungstin steal
?

Is some kind of alloy containing both tungsten and steel? I have not heard of that particular mix of metals before.

This is WAYYY jumping the gun here. There won't be any sort of rebuilding until the Russians clear the checkpoints and return to SO and AKZ. Until then, it's just hand outs and economic / government turmoil for the foreseeable future for Georgia.
