FFG 054/054A Thread

2nd ship from Hudong finally finishing its painting and soon will undock. I wonder what are those ships being built in the background in one of the pictures?

yes,some new ships are under construction in the pic, but not sure what ships will be, believed they are 054A, because they had been in large quantities production.

Could any one please update me that uptill now how many 054A already been biuld and on sea trails and how many under construction?

are you seeing something that I'm not?

I read the news 2 weeks ago from magazine that China will export 054A that the price 200 million USD for each,and Malaysia already prepared 1.5 billion US dollars military budget for the purchase of 054 A Chinese frigate.
Malaysia plans to buy British frigates, but the price increase because the United Kingdom, Malaysia changed its mind and decided to purchase China's 054 A.

yes, I posted that article. But that's no proof. As for Malaysia purchasing 054A, no evidence of that so far.

I was referring to something in the left corner. It appears to have a superstructure just as tall as the 054A. Can be anything but it piqued my curiousity quite a bit.

I was just wondering why Mao said plural, but yeah, I think we are going to see new 054As pretty soon.

It's really hard to tell what the ship on the top-left corner is. To my eyes it looks like a submarine.

Quite possible. That hanger does look like the same hanger that was used to refit (or reconvert) the older Kilo submarines. I am quite surprised its that close to Hudong, and that there might be a Kilo inside it. The first Kilo was refitted around 2005, and there are four of these older Kilos. But then again, might be a new Yuan too. Whatever. Its hard to tell from the image anyway.

Pakistan just released an RFP for new frigates, will the shipyard(s) involved in Type-054A submit a proposal? Or is it too early for that?

well, according to Kanwa's interviews with Malaysian/Thai navy, they are already submitting modifications of 071 for those countries' LPD proposals, so I think modifications of 054A should be available right now.
