I never considered that Taiwan belonged to Beijing or to Communist China, so Taiwan does not have to declare independence – it is independent!” he said. “But it is not regarded as independent by the US, Japan or the UN – that is the ‘One China Policy,’ and that is the beginning of the curse we are facing right now.”

I like that last bit in the MFA spokespersons statement:
我要再次强调,香港是中国的香港,香港事务纯属中国内政。任何外部势力企图干涉香港事务,都是蚍蜉撼树自不量力。
I will stress again, Hong Kong is China's Hong Kong. Hong Kong matters are Chinese internal affairs. Any outside force attempting to interfere with Hong Kong's affairs are like ants, unaware of their size attempting to shake a tree.

Australia has successfully lobbied UNESCO to not list The Great Barrier Reef in the 'in danger list'.

Why is this related to China? Because not long ago, the Morrison regime is accusing China, the current host of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee of influencing the committee to play politics.

Actually its the scientists and environmentalists who were the actual ones calling for the listing of the GBR into the 'in danger list'.
The Greenpeace Australia Pacific chief executive, David Ritter, said under the world heritage convention “the Australian government promised the world it would do its utmost to protect the reef - instead it has done its utmost to hide the truth.”

“This is a victory for one of the most cynical lobbying efforts in recent history. This is not an achievement – it is a day of infamy for the Australian government,” Ritter said.
Ahead of Friday’s meeting, the Australian government had conducted a fierce campaign to block the danger listing. More than a dozen ambassadors flew from Canberra to Cairns, Queensland, for a

.

So politics triumph over science again. Who cares about years of research by scientists about the vulnerability of the GBR? All you need to do campaign like hell, invite ambassadors on a snorkeling trip, and blame China. GBR is 'no longer in danger'. So practically any international institution can be bought and coerced these days.

If this reminds you of the joke the WHO Covid-19 virus origin tracing has become right now, it is.

China sanctions 7 Americans under the Anti Foreign Sanction Law.
Well what do you think Mrs Sherman?

It looks like China just returns in kind. Right before the Anchorage meeting, the US announced sanctions against China, and Blinken came to the meeting claiming the US was speaking from "a position of strength." This time, the US again announced sanctions against China before/while pushing for a visit to China by Mrs. Sherman. China eventually agreed for the visit to Tianjin, but not Beijing. The US then proclaimed that Sherman would visit China from a "position of strength."

China's response? Announce sanctions against US personnel and entities, and Zhao Lijian said during the regular press that "the US was not speaking from a position of strength in Anchorage, it would even be less so in Tianjin."

At this rate, "from the position of strength" will go down in history as the term of infamy. LOL.

Didn't we all know deep inside that this phrase would go in history the moment it left Tiger Yang's mouth...

How long has it been for a country to seriously talk like this in US' face and basically slapping it back to reality

I remember very well the western media trying to cover it up. However, the following days the very stable genius US think tanks were shocked by the phrase "Position of strength" and were putting out analysis and articles on how the US was "acthually" in position of strength haha

As we can all see, Tiger Yang inflicted a deep psychological trauma to the US lol
