The ship is 891 experiment ship.

Compare the aegis radar on Japanese Navy.

OPS-24: operational since 1990

btw, you might want to put the actual pictures there, since it's not showing up.
Someone claims that a picture with a new PAR radar is for 054A and you are calling it testing a new aegis radar?

And, if you bother doing a search, you would notice OPS-24 is a 2D search radar.

What am I saying? Even if it's for 054A, it's not the APAR that everyone has been dreaming of.

I don't understand why you people can't see the pictures.

I am in UK and I have not problem to view those pics.

I tried to upload, but the system kept me waiting for half hour without doing a d*mn thing.

Somebody know how to use this system please help!

you should be putting this on imageshack and posting them here. There are plenty of image hosting sites that you can upload them to.

Oh oh, I guess the Americans will start to complain. :D

Anyway, I heard this radar is for the latest guided missile destroyers (hope I'm right anyway).

correct me.OPS-24 is first operational AESA radar, but is used hybrid circuit rather than modern monolith circuit.
hybrid circuit aside from large size also consume more power.

okay, so we finally get an update on what the aft mask on 891. And guess what, as I had predicted, they are putting Sea Eagle up there. Now, I can't be sure that it's the same version as the one on 054A, but it looks like PLAN is relatively satisfied with it as the volume search radar. And I maintain my belief that the much talked about MFR for 054 series is the Sampson-looking thing on top of the bridge of 891

You mean PLAN is so satisfied with 054A that they decided to put the its sensors back onto the test ship?

Well, to me, that's not a sign of satisfaction though.

I think it totally makes sense for them to put it on there. You want to test it along with the new MFR + FCRs. (system integration) And secondly, I suspect it's an upgraded version of Sea Eagle.
