COMAC C919

Yes, yes, the way he put it is funny and as if he has no recollection of what he's been doing for the past year but that's not the point. Other than that I didn't get my wish of seeing GE sabotaged by its own government and expelled from the C919 project, the point is, what happened to Trump? Did he hit is head? Did BoJo curse some sense into him over the phone? It's like his brain is suddenly starting to work and he appears to be capable of learning. Before, he was like some dumb animal you could trick into biting a metal rod with spikes on it every time you moved it around his face but this time, instead he's just looking at you as you waive it! This is literally the first time I've seen him display intellect. I don't like it at all...

...

"The United States cannot, & will not, become such a difficult place to deal with in terms of foreign countries buying our product, including for the always used National Security excuse, that our companies will be forced to leave in order to remain competitive," Trump wrote on Twitter.

"As an example, I want China to buy our jet engines, the best in the World," he added. Trump later said before departing to California that, "things have been put on my desk that have nothing to do with national security, including chipmakers."
Credit should attribute to "successful emergency lobbying", and probably "timely donations" to Trump2020 campaign, courtesy by GE...I presume?

Trump blasts proposed restrictions on selling U.S. jet parts to China
In a series of tweets on Tuesday, Trump said national security should not be used as an "excuse" to make it difficult for foreign countries to buy U.S. products.

You do trust what Trump said? Generally, I don't. He said similar thing regarding 5G about a year ago. Actually, it's not about national security but it's national interest.

Lol. It's scary when Trump's whole instinct and persona changes. Because we don't know what to make of this change!

The quicker we get this bird flying around the world the better. Come on!

It won't until the C919 gets EASA and FAA certification, which now looks to be a long process fraught with external interruption. Besides, the C919 is a short to medium haul airplane, like the B737. The best for COMAC is to see that C919 is used extensively in China and to a few neighboring counties that accept CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China) certification to build up reliability and operational record before going for the international market.

The approach taken by China's high speed rail to enter the international market is a good lesson for COMAC.

Yes, I'm aware of the "political barrier". AKA certification!

But China has come to far to stop. Also China can't and shouldn't stop! Even if China don't get a single order outside China. The experience and internal market makes it viable for China to continue. Gaining the experience to develope future planes, and deprive profit opportunity in the home market to the very countries that try to hampered your own development!

Sum up the reasons why American want this project death. Technology and profits being threatened within the Chinese market for them. But as Trump said, not selling to China mean the orders will go to some other places (he hates Airbus and now perhaps Boris Johnson's Rolls Royce). But never understand Trump, he contradicts his own contradiction.
