The International Orienteering Federation (IOF) has announced that hosts China's teams were disqualified from the men's and women's middle-distance events at the World Military Games in Wuhan, due to claims of "extensive cheating".

Chinese runners finished in first, second and fourth place among the women, and second place among the men, on Sunday (October 20).

But according to the IOF, it was proven that the runners had received illegal assistance from spectators in the terrain, and had markings and small paths prepared for them.

In some publications, it appears, that the crowd was pointing out to the Chinese competitors the direction to take. Perhaps its just 'sour grapes' on the part of the other competitors, with the crowd deliberately misleading them.

What I found annoying was continued China bashing by the host of the radio station I was listening to. He mentioned three Chinese runners were disqualified for cheating during the Boston marathon and a Chinese compeititor who cheated by riding a bike when halfway through the Shenzen marathon..........(sigh)

When I read into the Boston cheating saga, it turns out, there were 500 Chinese competitors. What the radio host failed to mention was, of the 3 two had forged entries, and the other gave his bib to another.

A common protest was handed in by the national teams of Russia, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Poland and Austria, and the jury decided to disqualify all competitors in the Chinese team.

Kobe Bryant died in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, Sunday morning, Yahoo Sports confirmed. His daughter, Gianna, was also on board as was another player and parent en route to a travel basketball game, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported.

Bryant played his entire 20-year career for the Los Angeles Lakers and won five NBA championships prior to retiring in 2016. He was named Finals MVP twice and league MVP in 2008. Bryant was 41.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of a helicopter that crashed into a hillside and caught fire, NBC Los Angeles reported. The crash was called in at 9:47 a.m. local time, per the report, and flames that spread a quarter acre were put out by 10:30. The fire department reported no survivors.

The helicopter, a Sikorsky S-76, crashed under unknown circumstances with five people on board, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. An investigation is ongoing. CNN’s transportation expert said the flight data shows the helicopter tightly circling downtown Los Angeles before heading out to Calabasas. Eric Leonard of NBC Los Angeles shared the radar track on Twitter.

Gianna Bryant, Kobe’s 13-year-old daughter, was one of the four passengers killed in the crash, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported.

There are no words for me to describe......just sadness....To me Kobe Bryant was the greatest basketball player that ever walked the Earth.

:(
