Because China has threatened to invade if Taiwan formalises the status-quo in the constitution, and there's no actual reason to call China's bluff on that point. It wouldn't change anything for Taiwan and, even if China didn't invade, the increased loss of face for Beijing would make it even harder to find a long-term political solution that didn't involve Taiwan agreeing to be annexed.

Man: I'd love to, but my ex said she'll kill you if we get married, and I believe she'd try it.

Woman: Ok, let's get married in secret and pretend to her you're still single.

Well my friend, that is the price you’ll have to pay for freedom and independence. Go ahead and read an American history textbook and see how the founding fathers led Americans and won their independence and how much they had sacrificed for their independence. That is the price of independence. If you want it, you will have to earn it, with blood and sweat.

By the way, don’t ask for something that you can’t afford or don’t want to pay for. Who doesn’t want a $10 million house? If you do, then work hard and save up. When you have $9.99 million and still a little short, ask your friends and family for help. I’m sure they will be happy to lend a hand and give you a push. However, when you expect your friends and family to pull most of the weight and shell out $9.9 million so that you can buy your $10 million house, that’s a spoiled brat talking.

Similarly, if you want to be independent, then be prepared to pull most of the weight, do most of the fighting and suffer most of the casualties. It’s your fight. Don’t pull your friends into it and expect them to fight and die for you. When that happens, ask yourself this question: “ am I being a good friend? Why am I pulling my friends into this mess?” Fight your own fight if you truly believe the Americans and the Japanese are your friends. Friends don’t get friends into trouble.

that clip showing the Taiwanese honor guards making such stupid mistakes strongly suggests that most of the Taiwanese youth either don’t want to pull any weight or are not prepared to pull any weight at all. That’s why they made such stupid mistakes. They either slack off during daily training, or didn’t spend enough time preparing for the ceremony ahead of time, or mentally drifted away at the ceremony. No matter which is the case, it shows lack of motivation, which is unacceptable IF you have been motivated and driven to face the fight of your life and the fight for the destiny of your country.

also about your response to my “woman-man” soap opera, do you realize that your response is very selfish and cowardly. When you are afraid of being killed by your ex and keeping everything a secret, you are letting your loved ones shoulder most of the consequences of your decision. Man up! Figure out how to deal with your ex. If you can’t or won’t, you don’t deserve the love of your woman. Let her go and give her a chance to find a love that she deserves. A coward who is afraid to deal with his own problems doesn’t deserve a beautiful love.

Why do you even care? It's been about 150 years since military commanders honestly thought that the way you won a war was to ensure that your troops were the best at marching in formation, or could kick the highest.

Russian troops do some of the best ceremonial marching in the world, but they struggled to defeat Georgia in a timely manner. Same for North Korea, but we know their military would be as effective as toilet paper against any of its likely enemies (it just relies on the fear of artillery and WMD).

I guess you don't know anything about discipline and how it equates to military success through team workmanship.

I feel Taiwan is going to soon officially declare its complete independence from China. But for that to happen, a president like Reagan has to be in the white house. The present president is too much of a business man than a leader. The first step in Taiwan s independence would be a official recognition of Taiwan by usa and its cronies.
USA can do that even now without any consequences as China is way too Mercantile to lose its biggest market for a territory which is for all purposes already Independent. It just needs to post a few hundred thousand troops in Taiwan as insurance against any knee jerk reaction. Global times will rant for a few months like before and then taper to a "they were already independent " rationalization.

Yup, that's pretty much how much you know about China. Highly consistent with your past posts LOL

1. Taiwan will never officially make that declaration and have never hinted that they will. I'll make a bet with you. Loser quits this forum. You set the timeline.

2. It just doesn't get clearer than it already is from China. Nuclear war with the US or anyone else over Taiwan; money doesn't matter; lives don't matter; principle matters: Taiwan is forever a part of China. And there's still people like you making desperate hopes that China won't fight for its own territory... I don't know how China can be more clear but some people will always refuse to see the truths if they want to believe the lies. There is an anti-secession law in China that all out war is automatic if Taiwan declares independence... but you keep hoping against all evidence that it won't be enacted. Meanwhile, the leader of the ROC makes a TV remark that the ROC functions independently, and you think that's a clear declaration of independence?? How very nimbly your imagination can bend to placate your unfulfillable desires! LOL Maybe you personally hold nothing dear enough to fight and die over but to make that assumption of others, others who have told you that they are different, will be the miscalculation that ends the world... if it were made by someone important enough, of course.

Okay, consider this an official warning. Any further discussion of Taiwan independence whether it is de factor or de jure, or conditions under which China may invade Taiwan, are going to be deleted.

This thread is specifically for Taiwan military news, and while I was lenient with the previous singular post about the election, further discussion about politics (whether it be Taiwan domestic, or regional/geopolitical) will be deleted.

.... Moving back on topic --- I find it interesting that the upgraded F-16Vs have pitot tubes on their nose radome, while still having AESA.

One of the discussions around the prospect of an AESA upgrade for various PLA fighters (like J-11BG) was the external physical appearance, specifically the difference in radome colour and whether it may or may not still have a nose probe.

The F-16V upgrade I think should demonstrate that the presence or lack of a nose probe is not definitive for whether an aircraft may or may not have an AESA.

Any updates on the M1A2T tank order?

Its a shame I didn't get to see your post. All I can say is that during the past few days, I learnt something new about myself, that is I didn't know I had that much self-control! First, the self-constraint on comments on the elite honoured guards, and then the replies on it. I think I've done very well. Lol.
