I know it is getting OT but want to add what oversea Iranian is thinking about it. I talked to a Iranian friend here today. The person is a child of former general of the Shah who has relative in Iran. The person is not likely to speak for the current Iranian government because of the history. Even the person is suspecting a foul play in the downing of the airline to tarnish the Iranian government. We both suspect the timing of the video "evident" as pre-planned indicating someone within the Iranian military did it to topple the Iranian government.

Big bad China Is bullying smaller nations to recognise the one China policy, blah blah blah.

Nothing is mention of the fact that when Czech republic signed diplomatic relationship with China, it had signed to under take to recognise China as a whole, it recognise Taiwan, Tibet, etc is part if China as a whole, and as such recognise all these are China's internal affairs. As such, it can't be right for them to go back on it.

Really, if they don't like it, they are free to break off diplomatic relationship and recognise Republic of China instead. But no, they rather like to have best of both world. But it's rather short sighted and as China grow, they will miss the growing market of 1.4 trillion people, and have a market of 20 milion instead.


Shanghai suspends all ties with Prague in spat over Taiwan

(Reuters) - The Shanghai city government said on Tuesday it was suspending official contact with Prague after the Czech capital signed a sister-city agreement with Taiwan's capital, Taipei, instead of Beijing.

While Czech President Milos Zeman has pushed ties with China, he has become more critical after promised Chinese investment has failed to materialize. On Sunday, he said he would not attend a summit in China in April.

Prague's government has forged its own path, including Mayor Zdenek Hrib's refusal to eject a Taiwanese diplomat from a conference at the demand of a Chinese official. He also flew the Tibetan flag at City Hall.

Taiwan is China's most sensitive diplomatic issue, as the island is claimed by Beijing as a renegade province. China has stepped up pressure on foreign governments to fall in line with accepting its claims.

On Monday, Hrib and Taipei Mayor Ko Wen-je signed a sister city agreement in Prague.

The government of financial hub Shanghai said Prague's government had made many missteps on core issues such as Taiwan.

They have "wantonly interfered in China's internal politics and publicly challenged the 'one China' principle," it said in a statement, adding its "stern opposition" to these moves.

As a result, Shanghai was immediately suspending all official interactions with Prague, it said.

This decision comes after Prague's city council upset China in October by canceling a partnership agreement with Beijing that required it to commit to the "one China" principle.

This is why Presidents should not make social media platforms like Tweeter their personal news broadcast outlet, especially someone like Trump.

Fog of war. it was the opening of events and as such things were still being settled what was clear was no fatalities, and the numbers are still very light. One even wonders what kind of injury were included.

As to Twitter it gives an unfiltered access that by passing the Media whom have gone out of there way to belittle the President.
Across American history Presidents have wanted a means to reach the people. Social media is just the latest tool.
The goal of the President at the time should be clear keep the nation calm. Counter propaganda and keep control. Situations like these can run out of control if you only get the propaganda pumped by one side which would have been the 80 killed number from Iran. You see that play out in the Six day war where the Israelis went into total media lock down well the Arab states pumped out propaganda that made it sound like absolute victory. Israelis were basically left only to hear the propaganda and were in a near panic until the IDF came about for the victory party and the Arab states had to admit defeat.
In this case even had the President gone on “MSM” as some refer to it the reports could still have been wrong.

I would like to think that the average American would be smart enough to know how to differentiate between what is propaganda and what is actual news. Though honest that did be a hope too high at times.
It is one thing to keep the calm of nation and another to make totally unsubstantiated claims only to be disproven later. It sows confusion and distrust among people.
Trump honestly could had done less damage if he just kept his mouth shut then.

Even his fans often say he has a way of putting his foot in it. That said it’s often that people will attack or keep latched on initial reports. Just because they are proven errors doesn’t mean wrong or right. In this case the main aim should be clear No US or even Iraqi fatalities.

Come on, POTUS did use the MSM, with all his generals behind him after the assassination, to warm Iran, that if (from memory) ANY Americans are hurt in retaliation or any American assets get hit. America would hit back twice as hard! that much is clear. The fact he called it, and Iran called his bluff, is no fog of war! It is calculated by both side.

POTUS trying to look strong and played to his audience is calculated, no tweeters was involved. The fact he has to eat his world, even the blind man can see is no fog of war!

Again, the bluster waa never about fatality, it was:

If ANY US personnel or assets get hurt! And this was made quite clear to the world!
