For normal operation take 1,3 times more speed or (if not possible due to maximum value over the ramp) 0,85 times less weight. Test pilots evalue the limit (that is their job and they are qualified to do this), line pilots fly safe.

I doubt the real number will anywhere close to this.

You mean the most common or routine number. Not the limits. I presume these are the limits. This is not something they will go routinely or often. But once in a while, as part of their training or being in the military, they should and will go past playing safe and past the routine load out to test and reach the limits. This is especially if the ship and the planes are doing testing. You cannot avoid the need to see how far you can go and train for it should the situation arise that you will need it. I presume the spotted J-15 022's layout of having two KD88, two YJ-91 and two PL-8 is one of those tests. That layout doesn't make tactical sense, unless they are deliberately loading the plane to see how far they can go, the KD88s might be there to mimic the weight of EW pods.

Nah! the J-15 is an amazing bird, its just that with only two carriers, once CV-17 launches, CV-16 will likely go in for an extensive retro-fit, sharing her air wing during that period.... in fact the next J-15 will likely be CATOBAR birds, capable of launching of CV-16 and CV-17 as well, but we will wait and see......

In fact as the CATOBAR carriers come on line, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see the ramp boats typically operate a dozen J-15's apiece...

Wouldn't call the J-15 an "amazing bird". Sub-part in many ways compared to foreign planes, and that's only when it does a succesfull take off. But that's really not the subject !
