In the over Rs 1.5 lakh crore deal for manufacturing 114 multirole fighter aircraft, the Indian Air Force (IAF) is planning to compress the time taken for carrying out trials of all the participants to less than a year to ensure that the force gets its new combat aircraft at a faster rate."

Basically India is now back to square one with MRCA contract 2.0 after nearly 4 years trying to make the Rafale deal work.
The usual participants for the contract are Lockheed, Eurofighter, Saab,Sukhoi and MiG, unsurprisingly Dassault is not listed among the contenders.
On a personal bias I really hope that MIG snags this contract with the Mig-35. Of all the companies competing they are the one in most dire need for a win here. And to be fair Russia probably has more experience dealing with whatever demands India puts up. That and the Mig-35 is still a very good looking jet.

Whats the regimental structure of S400 that Indian forces are slated to induct? Some articles say 5 battalions which means fire units normally but others mention regiments..

Probably 5 regiments with future plane to upgrade to 8 brigades in a subsequent decade.

What does "TEDBF" mean?

Twin Engine Deck Based Fighter (TEDBF). I think it's basically the acronym for Indian carrier fighter project. Tejas is planned to receive serious upgrades like LEVCON and a new airframe. Probably can get a better result out of buying F-35s but I doubt they are compatible with the existing IN carriers. If they don't design the future carrier with the F-35 in mind, they will definitely be arming it with TEDBF.

India has lots of fighters in development with pervasive usage of Acronyms
LCA - Light Combat Aircraft
Mk 1 (Mark 1) { Developed close to 16 fighters till date.}
Mk 1A { Slated to enter by 2017... Aesa equipped fighter (Elta 2052)
Mk 2 {Uttam radar ? Possibly }
MWF - Medium Weight Fighter
{Project definition phase}
Mk (1,2...)
TEDBF - Twin Engine Deck Based Fighter
{possibly tied up with MWF }
AMCA - Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft
{Prototyping ? Design probably froze. I think we can put its development to be a little bit behind Japanese F3}

Thanks, but THIS - at least the artwork - looks more like a fan-made Tejas Mk.2 (now MCA) with a slightly wider fuselage to fit two engine (or at least make it look like) but in fact these can never be two F414.

Yes I know, at Twitter a few days ago I had a funny discussion with one, who claimed, India has now not only five, but seven fighter projects in the making, making it de facto more successful than China! ... To my remark, that being successful is at least IMO another definition he replied it's pure simple math: 7 is bigger than two (J-20 and FC-31).

Otherwise I think your list is mixing a few and omitting others; from what I read it's more like this:

LCA - Light Combat Aircraft
Mk 1 (Mark 1) { Developed close to 16 fighters till date.}
Mk 1A { Stated to enter by 2017... Aesa equipped fighter (Elta 2052) ... only an interim
Mk 2 {Uttam radar ? Possibly } ... now abondoned and evolved into the MWF
allegedly there was also a stealthy Tejas and not to forget the naval-Tejas and the five Tejas-trainer projects (AF Mk.1 and 2, Naval Mk.1 and 2 and LIFT)
MWF - Medium Weight Fighter
{Project definition phase} ... was former Tejas Mk.2
Mk (1,2...)
TEDBF - Twin Engine Deck Based Fighter
{possibly tied up with MWF }
AMCA - Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft
{Prototyping ? Design probably froze. I think we can put its development to be a little bit behind Japanese F3} ... let's wait and see
