The thing is, if you do not have long range missiles why have a powerful radar. If the only weapons are CIWS and HHQ10, the range is less than 20 km

Same reason why an airport keeps powerful radar. It needs knowledge of the vast airspace around it. Every plane both friendly and foe, it needs to know.

Long range radars are always a part of every carrier. You can see every carrier has them.

Let me add that the carrier also shares this radar information to the airplanes and ships around it. If the carrier has CEC, which both Chinese carriers are very likely to have --- I have pointed out the possible locations for these CEC antennas on another thread --- it and the ships around it can merge all their sensor information into one giant map.

Their wives would certainly be very happy. I'm surprised they haven't started using robots instead.
I don't think cleaner bots nowadays are smart enough. Both in possibility of missing debris and not able to react properly to all kinds of situation on deck operation.

There is J-4. It was a prototype/test of Mig-9 together with J-3, never went into production. So nobody knows until very recently like J-9, J-12, J-13 (all known date and design institute) and J-14 (nothing known).

And we have DF-41.

There are skipped or unheard 4s, but there are equally lots of skipped and unheard "lucky" 8s or 9s. Such as J-19?, J18?

To everybody who still think CCP cares about the superstition shit, please be serious.;) (no offense intended). If CCP believes any of these craps it would not have survived to this day.

41 is appropriate for an ICBM missile ...because it basically sounds like the enemy will "Die First" ! ...LoL

The CPC doesn't care about superstition in fact they loath it, but they also reason it doesn't hurt if it contributes to the population's psyche. The 2008 Beijing Olympics opened on the 8th August at 8:08pm !

CNS Shandong, the People's Liberation Army Navy's new aircraft carrier, has better combat and logistic capabilities than its predecessor, CNS Liaoning, according to a Navy spokesman.

Senior Captain Cheng Dewei was quoted in a Navy statement as saying on Wednesday that the Shandong was wholly designed and built by Chinese researchers and engineers, and the program enabled them to gain knowledge and expertise in the carrier's overall design, construction and propulsion.

The new carrier boasts stronger capabilities in "comprehensive combat effectiveness and integrated logistic capacity", he said.

As for the ship's name, Cheng said that under naval vessels' naming rules, cruisers, amphibious assault ships and larger vessels are named after Chinese provinces or municipalities. He said the name was decided upon in accordance with the rules and was based on consideration of various factors including applications made by provinces and municipalities.

He also said that Sanya, Hainan province, was chosen as the site for the Shandong's commissioning ceremony after the Navy considered several aspects in the new carrier's program schedule. He did not elaborate.

The PLA Navy commissioned CNS Shandong — its second aircraft carrier and the first such ship wholly designed and built domestically — on Tuesday at a naval base in Sanya.

President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, took part in the ceremony for the Type 002 class vessel.

Before Tuesday, the Navy had a sole carrier — the Liaoning, a Soviet-era vessel extensively refitted at a Dalian shipyard in Liaoning province. The Liaoning entered service in September 2012 and has executed several long-range operations.

The Shandong is the largest and most sophisticated naval ship ever developed and built in China.

A carrier does want for manpower. FOD walks on the US carrier is a tradition with almost spiritual meaning. So I don’t expect that to change.

when a navy does something for the first time, there is no reason to emulate the someone else’s quaint tradition. But once that navy has become accustomed to doing something as men’s daily routine, that routine gets kept long after more modern ways have technically become available to do to better.

one example is navy with a tradition stretching back to wooden sailing ship days retained the tradition of holystoning the wooden deck by hand with rectangular pieces of pumice stones long after the disk sander have become common place.
